What Are They?

They are highly recommended by doctors to their patients who need air purifiers for their health. There are three basic types of air purifiers offered by Honeywell; True HEPA, HEPA Type, and Micro-Filter Technology.

Type #01. True HEPA

The True HEPA air filtration system is the top of the line system as it can remove up 99.97 percent of air contaminants, o.3microns in size or larger. This type of system is ideal for people suffering from any airborne allergies, asthma or any breathing problems. A True HEPA system works by using a fan to draw air from the room and filter it through a HEPA filter. This filter, in turn, captures the pollutants and then recirculates the pure air. The True HEPA filtration systems do not emit ozone as particles are trapped in the filter. It does not attract particles through ionization process either. It is however recommended that you clean the filter every year and it can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or brush.

Type #02. HEPA Type

Although very similar to a True HEPA air filtration system, it is not quite as efficient. Nonetheless, the HEPA air filtration process removes as high as 90% of all airborne contaminants that are 2 microns or larger. The HEPA Type air filtration system offers perfect air purification at a lower price point. The HEPA type of air filtration is ideal if you are on a tighter budget but need to rid their homes of most air pollutants.

Type #03. Micro Filter Technology

Micro-filtration is a relatively new technology that uses a fan to circulate air and push it through a filter. It can remove pollutants as small as 0.3 microns. The system works by passing a high voltage charge through the filter that attracts the contaminants which are then captured in the honeycomb-like filter. The filters are washable and should be cleaned every three months. This system is suitable for allergy sufferers and those who just want to improve the quality of the air they breathe. This system, however, releases a little amount of ozone which is well below allowable levels set by EPA and so should not be used by anyone who has asthma or other severe breathing problems.
