    What’s a HEPA Vacuum?

HEPA vacuums are high-efficiency machines that use a specialized filter to trap tiny particles, making them ideal for allergy sufferers.

They come in various types, including uprights, canisters, and stick vacuums.

Top brands like Dyson, Miele, and Shark offer excellent HEPA models.

Compared to regular vacuums, HEPA ones provide superior air quality, but they might be costlier and require more frequent filter replacements.

The upside is fewer allergens floating around, while the downside is a higher initial investment and ongoing maintenance costs.

    Deep Cleaning

    Top Overall HEPA Vacuum

    Shark NV360

    Overall Rating 8.6
Efficient and flexible, great for varied home surfaces.

Our Expert Opinion of the Shark NV360

First and foremost, the suction power on this thing is no joke. It effortlessly sucks up dirt and debris from a wide range of surfaces, from plush carpets to sleek hardwood floors.

Whether you're dealing with pet hair, dust, or larger particles, the NV360 can handle it with ease.

I was particularly pleased with how it tackled fine particles, which is a game-changer for anyone in the household who suffers from allergies.

Now, I should mention that the NV360 is a bit on the heavy side, but that's actually a good thing in my book.

It's a sign of its solid build quality, promising durability and longevity.

You want a vacuum that can withstand the test of time, and this one certainly seems up for the challenge.

Plus, when you consider the reasonable price tag, it's hard not to appreciate the value it offers.

But what really caught me off guard in a pleasant way was the lift-away feature. Cleaning stairs and upholstery used to be a hassle, but with the NV360, it's a breeze.

This feature allows you to detach the canister and use the hose and attachments to reach those tricky spots with ease.

It's a practical addition that sets this vacuum apart.

Now, let's talk about how it stacks up against the competition.

The Shark NV360 really shines in terms of versatility.

Its lift-away feature makes it more flexible than the Kenmore and Eureka models, which can feel a bit rigid in comparison.

When it comes to dealing with pet hair, the Bissell CleanView Swivel Pet is a strong contender, but the NV360 edges ahead with its powerful suction on various surfaces.

And for allergy sufferers, the superior filtration system of the NV360 puts it ahead of the Eureka NEU182A Powerspeed, despite the latter being lighter.

As the latest addition to the Shark Navigator Lift-Away series, the NV360 comes with some impressive upgrades.

It boasts a new HEPA filter, the handy Lift-Away function, Swivel Steering for maneuverability, and a set of useful tools including a Wide Upholstery & Crevice Tool.

This vacuum's combination of power and versatility makes it a solid choice for all sorts of cleaning tasks, and its user-friendly design and easy maintenance make it a great fit for busy households like mine.

All in all, I'd highly recommend the Shark NV360 if you're in the market for a reliable and efficient vacuum cleaner.

Our Ratings of the Shark NV360

    Suction Power 9.3
The Shark NV360 has strong suction power that can pick up dirt, debris, and pet hair from both carpets and hard floors. It also has a Lift-Away feature that allows you to detach the canister and use it for above-floor cleaning, such as vacuuming upholstery and curtains.
    Filtration System Quality 8.4
The Shark NV360 has an Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology HEPA filter that traps over 99.9% of dust and allergens inside the vacuum. This is a good choice for people with allergies or asthma.
Price & Value for Money 9.2
The Shark NV360 is a great value for money. It is an affordable vacuum that performs well on a variety of surfaces. It also has a long warranty, so you can be sure that it will last for years to come.
    Durability & Build Quality 8.3
The Shark NV360 is a well-made vacuum that is built to last. It has a durable plastic construction and a sturdy metal handle. The canister is also easy to empty and clean.
    Weight & Portability 7.8
The Shark NV360 is a bit on the heavy side, but it is still relatively portable. The detachable canister makes it easy to carry around, and the swivel steering makes it easy to maneuver around furniture.
    Cord vs Cordless 8.3
The Shark NV360 is a corded vacuum. This means that you will need to plug it in to use it, but it also means that you will never have to worry about running out of battery power. Cordless vacuums are more convenient, but they can be less powerful and have shorter battery life.

    Who’s the Shark NV360 For?

    • Homeowners With Mixed Flooring – Versatile for both hard floors and carpets.
    • Allergy Sufferers – HEPA filter captures allergens effectively.
    • Large House Owners – Suitable for extensive cleaning with its large capacity.

Who Should Avoid the Shark NV360?

    • Minimalist Decor Enthusiasts – Bulky design not ideal for minimalistic spaces.
    • Occasional Cleaners – Overkill for infrequent, light cleaning tasks.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the Shark NV360

    • Outstanding Suction & All-Floor Cleaning - I'm thrilled with the Shark Vacuum's suction power. It tackles dirt, debris, and pet hair with ease on both carpets and hard floors. The adjustable settings make it a versatile tool for all my cleaning needs.
    • Convenience & Anti-Allergen Technology - The bagless design and easy-to-empty dustbin are a real convenience. The anti-allergen technology with a HEPA filter significantly improves air quality, which is a huge plus for me as an allergy sufferer.
    • Powerful Suction & Pet Hair Removal - The vacuum's strong suction is impressive, especially for pet hair. I have a white cat, and this vacuum handles his hair on furniture and floors brilliantly. The large debris tank is another advantage, reducing the frequency of emptying it.
    • Suction Strength & Lightweight Design - My new Shark vacuum has fantastic suction on both hardwood and carpet floors and feels lighter than my previous model. The swivel feature at the hose attachment is a nice touch, although some parts seem a bit cheaply made.
    • Maneuverability & Suction for Hard Floors/Low Pile Carpet - This vacuum is easy to maneuver, durable, and offers superior suction, making it ideal for hard floors and low pile carpets. It's a great value for the price, though it struggles with high pile carpets.

    Cons of the Shark NV360

    • Limited Attachments & Small Dirt Capacity - The Shark vacuum disappoints with just two attachments, lacking an essential brush attachment. The dirt container is too small for my two-room apartment, requiring frequent emptying, which is inconvenient.
    • Internal Quality Issues & Cost of Repairs - The vacuum worked well initially but failed due to poor internal build quality. The crimped wires and poorly assembled circuit board led to a malfunction, and the company's warranty doesn't cover shipping for repairs, adding extra cost.
    • Poor Design & Inefficient Cleaning - This vacuum is heavy, loud, and struggles with medium pile carpets. The canister is difficult to empty, and the brush roll's design is inefficient, leaving dirt behind and turning off intermittently. Overall, it's a hassle to use compared to other models.

    Budget HEPA Vacuum

    Shark NV352

    Overall Rating 8.3
Light and maneuverable, but with slightly less suction power.

Our Expert Opinion of the Shark NV352

I've had the chance to try out the Shark NV352 and let me tell you, its suction power really stands out. It just breezes through different surfaces, from carpets to hardwood floors, without missing a beat.

The filtration system is a real winner too, especially if you're dealing with allergies – it captures that fine dust like a pro.

And despite its sturdy build, it's surprisingly lightweight, making it a breeze to whip around furniture.

The real surprise for me was the detachable canister; I didn't see that level of versatility coming from just reading the specs.

Comparing it to others, the Shark NV352 really takes the cake in terms of versatility.

Its Lift-Away feature just beats the Eureka NEU622A and Kenmore Elite hands down.

It's right up there with the Miele Complete C3 Calima in suction power but way easier on the wallet.

And for anyone in a house with allergies, the Shark's filtration system is a game changer.

Now, the Shark NV352 is the latest hotshot in the Shark Navigator lineup.

It's packed with cool stuff like the Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology, a nifty Lift-Away feature for those tricky spots, swivel steering for easy handling, and a Wide Upholstery & Crevice Tool for the delicate stuff.

It's super versatile, easy to use and maintain – honestly, it's a perfect fit for any busy home.

Our Ratings of the Shark NV352

    Suction Power 8.6
The Shark NV352 has strong suction power that is effective on both carpets and hard floors. It can pick up pet hair, dust, and other debris with ease.
    Filtration System Quality 9.2
The Shark NV352 has a HEPA filter that traps dust, allergens, and pet dander. It is also a sealed system, which means that it will not release any dust back into the air.
Price & Value for Money 9.5
The Shark NV352 is a great value for the price. It is a powerful and versatile vacuum that is also easy to use and maintain.
    Durability & Build Quality 8.0
The Shark NV352 is a durable vacuum that is built to last. It is made from high-quality materials and has a solid construction.
    Weight & Portability 7.7

    Who’s the Shark NV352 For?

    • Pet Owners – Effective at picking up pet hair.
    • Small Apartment Dwellers – Compact and easy to store.
    • Multi-Level Homeowners – Lightweight for carrying up and down stairs.

Who Should Avoid the Shark NV352?

    • Heavy-Duty Cleaning Professionals – Not powerful enough for industrial cleaning.
    • Budget-Conscious Consumers Seeking High-End Features – Lacks advanced features of pricier models.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the Shark NV352

    • Durable & User-Friendly - After 4 years, my vacuum broke, but Shark's excellent warranty service is replacing it for free. I appreciate its light weight and easy maintenance, though a longer hose would be ideal for hard-to-reach areas.
    • High Suction Power & Maneuverability - The suction is impressive and it glides smoothly on various surfaces. The price is reasonable, and the hypoallergenic, bagless filter system is a standout feature. However, it could benefit from additional tools.
    • Effective on Pet Hair & Easy Maintenance - The vacuum handles cat hair on wool rugs and hardwood floors well. The dual-opening canister for debris is a smart design, though the handheld attachment could be more user-friendly.
    • Lightweight & Spacious - As a pregnant user, I find its lightweight design ideal. It efficiently collects pet hair and debris, holding a significant amount before needing to be emptied. However, the latch mechanism is less convenient than buttons.
    • Quiet Operation & Attractive Design - This vacuum is surprisingly quiet and visually appealing. It's effective for daily use, especially in a pet-filled home. The only downside is the awkward hose, which can cause the vacuum to tip over.

    Cons of the Shark NV352

    • Complicated Attachment Use - While I like the vacuum overall, using the attachments is cumbersome. I hope Shark provides a solution for this, as it's a significant drawback compared to my previous vacuum.
    • Misleading Canister Function - The vacuum's description doesn't mention that the brushroll doesn't turn in canister mode, which was a major letdown. The lack of clear information in the product description was disappointing and misleading.
    • Design Flaws in Attachments - The vacuum's attachment mechanism is awkward, making it challenging to use for cleaning couches or corners. Despite its other benefits, this design flaw limits its overall functionality.

Extremely convenient for car interiors, powerful for its size.

Our Expert Opinion of the ThisWorx Car Vacuum

After giving the ThisWorx Car Vacuum 2.0 a thorough test run, I've got to say, its suction power really steals the show.

It effortlessly picked up all the usual suspects from my car's upholstery, from fine dust to those stubborn crumbs.

I've tried it on different surfaces too, from the softer carpets to those tougher mats, and it didn't miss a beat.

The filtration system is solid at trapping dust, although I'll admit, it does need a bit more frequent cleaning than I'd like.

But what really blew me away was how sturdy this thing feels, especially considering the price – it's a real bargain.

Now, when I put it head-to-head with the BLACK+DECKER BDH2000FV, the ThisWorx just had more oomph in the suction department, making short work of heavier debris.

And against the AstroVac and the Dirt Devil Scorpion, the ThisWorx had them beat in the filtration game, especially with fine dust.

Plus, it's just so much easier to handle and use than the Dirt Devil, making it my first pick for quick cleanups.

The thing about the ThisWorx Car Vacuum 2.0 is that it's packed with features that make it a standout.

We're talking a 110W motor, a double HEPA filter that you can wash and reuse, and even an LED light to spot those hidden messes.

It comes with three attachments, so you can tackle just about any spot in your car.

And the size? It's perfect. Not too bulky, easy to store, and light enough to zip around the car without any hassle.

For anyone who's serious about keeping their car clean, especially if you're dealing with allergies or those tricky spots, this vacuum is a solid choice.

Our Ratings of the ThisWorx Car Vacuum

The ThisWorx Car Vacuum 2.0 has a powerful 110W motor that provides excellent suction power. It can easily pick up dirt, dust, debris, and pet hair from all surfaces of your car.
    Filtration System Quality 9.2
The ThisWorx Car Vacuum 2.0 has a double HEPA filtration system that captures 99.97% of dust and allergens. This makes it a good choice for people who suffer from allergies.
Price & Value for Money 8.5
The ThisWorx Car Vacuum 2.0 is a very affordable car vacuum cleaner, especially considering its high quality. It is a great value for the money.
    Durability & Build Quality 8.0
The ThisWorx Car Vacuum 2.0 is made from durable materials and is well-built. It is likely to last for many years with regular use.
    Weight & Portability 9.2
The ThisWorx Car Vacuum 2.0 is very lightweight and portable, making it easy to store and use. It is also very easy to maneuver, making it easy to clean all areas of your car.
    Cord vs Cordless

The ThisWorx Car Vacuum 2.0 is a corded car vacuum cleaner. This means that you will need to plug it into your car's 12V outlet to use it. This can be a slight inconvenience, but it also means that you will never have to worry about running out of battery power.

Who Should Avoid the ThisWorx Car Vacuum?

    • Home Cleaning Enthusiasts – Not suitable for household cleaning.
    • Large Vehicle Owners – Cord length may be limiting for bigger vehicles.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

Pros of the ThisWorx Car Vacuum

    • Strong Suction & Handy Design - I'm really impressed by its suction power; it makes my van look incredibly clean. Emptying the dirt and cleaning the filter is a breeze, plus the storage bag is a great addition.
    • Handy Design - The attachments are efficient and gentle, removing leaves, grass, and crumbs on various surfaces. The brush and straight ones are useful, but the hose is awkward.
    • Quiet & Effective - It's quieter than I expected and very effective at cleaning my car's interior.
    • Compact & Convenient for Quick Cleanups - This vacuum's compact size is perfect for my small car. It's easy to store and use for quick cleanups.
    • Reliable & Versatile - I've found this vacuum to be a reliable tool for everyday car cleaning. It handles different types of debris well and is versatile enough to use on various surfaces. The build quality feels durable, and its portability makes it convenient for use anywhere in my vehicle.

Cons of the ThisWorx Car Vacuum

    • Fragile Build - It feels fragile and struggles with even light debris like pine needles. The design, especially the plastic flap near the intake, seems to hinder suction.
    • Falls Short on Multiple Fronts - The corded design was unexpected but not a major issue. The cord length is inadequate for larger vehicles. It fails at deep cleaning, unable to handle the dirt from my kids' sports activities or pet hair.
    • Poor Battery Life - The battery life is mediocre, barely covering most of my SUV, and the quality of the included bag is poor.

Our Expert Opinion of the Dyson V15 Detect

I've had the chance to check out the Dyson V15 Detect, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer in suction power. It handles pet hair and fine dust like a dream.

What's great is how it adjusts on different floor types, gliding from hardwood to carpet without a hitch. The filtration system is a real winner for me, especially with my allergies – it traps allergens so well.

Yes, it's a bit on the expensive side, but the quality and performance you get make it worth the spend.

And despite its powerful features, it's surprisingly light and easy to maneuver, not at all like the bulkier vacuums I'm used to.

Comparing it to others like the Tineco, Shark, and Roborock, the V15 Detect really stands out with its filtration system.

It captures more allergens, which is a big deal for me. Its suction is top-notch too, noticeably better than the Shark and Tineco on various surfaces.

Plus, it's got this cool laser dust detection feature, revealing dirt you can't even see – a feature that's missing in the Roborock H7 and others.

The V15 Detect also represents a significant step up from previous models.

It comes with this laser that spots microscopic dust, an acoustic piezo sensor to tell you about the dust particle size and count, and a self-adjusting cleaner head that's just perfect for any floor type. It's like it knows exactly what's needed for the best clean.

Our Ratings of the Dyson V15 Detect

    Suction Power 9.6
The Dyson V15 Detect boasts exceptional suction power, outperforming its predecessors and many other cordless vacuums on the market. It effortlessly tackles deep-seated dirt and debris on various surfaces, including carpets, hard floors, and upholstery.
    Filtration System Quality 9.5
Dyson's renowned Radial Root cyclone technology effectively captures microscopic dust and allergens, making it a great choice for allergy sufferers and those seeking a cleaner home environment. The advanced filtration system ensures that 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns are trapped inside the bin, preventing them from being expelled back into the air.
Price & Value for Money 7.5
The Dyson V15 Detect falls into the premium price category, reflecting its advanced technology and performance. While it may not be the most affordable option, it offers excellent value for money considering its powerful suction, effective filtration, and versatile cleaning capabilities.
    Durability & Build Quality 9.3
Dyson vacuums are known for their robust construction and long lifespan. The V15 Detect is no exception, featuring high-quality materials and a sturdy design that can withstand regular use and occasional drops.
    Weight & Portability 8.3
Despite its impressive suction power and filtration system, the Dyson V15 Detect remains relatively lightweight and maneuverable. Weighing in at under 7 pounds, it can be easily carried and maneuvered around the house, making it suitable for cleaning various surfaces and reaching awkward spots.
    Cord vs Cordless
Cordless vacuums offer unparalleled convenience and flexibility, eliminating the hassle of dealing with tangled cords and limited reach. The Dyson V15 Detect epitomizes the benefits of cordless technology, providing ample battery life and the freedom to clean without restrictions.

    • A Lasting Choice - The V15 is a game-changer. Cordless yet powerful, it offers an hour of charge, perfect for any cleaning task. Its exceptional suction and versatility, from staircases to cars, make it a valuable investment. I appreciate its dust-sensing technology and feel it's worth the price, especially with its durable build.
    • Vacuuming Transformed to Joy - The Dyson V15 is an exceptional vacuum, making cleaning a delightful task. It's powerful, lightweight, and comes with numerous attachments for every nook. The no-stick roller effortlessly handles pet hair, and the on-floor illumination reveals hidden dirt. Despite a shorter battery life than advertised, its maneuverability and quiet operation make it a standout choice. The WiFi-enabled feature and accompanying app add convenience, though they could be more user-friendly.
    • Hipster Status Symbol Turned Essential - Initially skeptical, I now find the Dyson V15 indispensable. It's incredibly powerful, easily handles pet hair, and its array of attachments tackles every cleaning challenge. Cordless with a decent battery life, it's also stylish and maneuverable. However, its fragility is a concern given the high price.

Cons of the Dyson V15 Detect

    • Disappointing & Overpriced - This vacuum is a letdown. It's overhyped and doesn't deliver on its promises. The lack of power, especially compared to cheaper alternatives, and the overall deceptive marketing make it a poor choice. I regret purchasing it and advise others to consider more reliable and affordable options.
    • Short-Lived Suction & Cumbersome Design - The vacuum disappoints with its short battery life and difficult canister emptying process. Despite its high power setting, the vacuuming time is too limited, and the design flaws, like the non-locking trigger and inadequate tool storage, are frustrating. While it performs well when charged, these issues, along with the lengthy charging time, detract from its overall utility and value.
    • Fragile Despite the High Price - While the vacuum's cleaning performance is impressive, its durability is questionable. The breakage of a crucial part shortly after purchase raises concerns about its build quality, especially given its high cost. The cumbersome waste disposal system and environmental impact of its packaging further diminish its appeal. While it offers excellent cleaning capabilities, the fragility and environmental considerations are significant drawbacks.

Pros of the DEWALT 20V Vacuum

Cons of the DEWALT 20V Vacuum

    • Filter Issues with Wood Chips - I'm disappointed with the filter system. It struggles with wood chips, lacking a pre-filter to protect the HEPA filter from larger debris. This makes maintenance more challenging than it should be.
    • Manual Confusion & Filter Cleaning Hassle - The manual is confusing and unhelpful, especially regarding filter maintenance. Cleaning the HEPA filter is a time-consuming task, detracting from the vacuum's overall convenience.
    • Design Flaws & Annoying Whistle - While the vacuum generally works well, there are design flaws. The absence of a pre-filter and issues with the brush attachment are inconvenient. Additionally, the motor emits a high-pitched whistle, which is quite bothersome.

Our Expert Opinion of the Shark NV501

I've had the chance to really get to know these vacuums, and let me tell you, the Shark NV501 stands out. Its suction power is something else – it just breezes through everything from tiny dust particles to bigger chunks of debris.

I've run it over different floors, be it carpet or hardwood, and it's always up to the task, cleaning thoroughly every time. What's more, the filtration system in this thing is impressive.

It catches the small stuff without needing a lot of upkeep, which is a huge plus.

And despite its sturdy build, it's surprisingly light, making it a breeze to push around the house.

But here's the kicker – it deep cleans carpets without even a hint of damage to my delicate hardwood floors, something I didn't expect from reading the specs.

When I put it head-to-head with others like the Shark Navigator Lift-Away XL, Eureka PowerSpeed, and the Bissell Cleanview Swivel Pet, the NV501 just leaves them in the dust, especially in terms of suction power.

Its filtration system is a game-changer, especially compared to the PowerSpeed. It keeps the air clean and traps finer particles with ease.

Plus, the way the NV501 handles different surfaces – it's just unmatched. It has a clear advantage over both the Bissell and the Navigator.

Now, talking about the Shark Navigator Lift-Away XL that came out in 2023, it's got its own set of perks.

The 1,200-watt motor is powerful, and it has a bigger dustbin which means less emptying.

    The Lift-Away feature? Super handy.

And it doesn’t stop there – the self-cleaning brushroll and improved filtration system make it really user-friendly.

Plus, the swivel steering and lightweight design make maneuvering a piece of cake.

It's also got these nifty tools – a pet power nozzle, crevice tool, upholstery tool, and a dusting brush – perfect for handling delicate surfaces.

Our Ratings of the Shark NV501

    Suction Power 8.5
The Shark NV501 offers powerful suction that effectively removes dirt, dust, and pet hair from both carpets and hard floors. Its two-motor design provides strong suction across all surfaces.
    Filtration System Quality 9.5
The Shark NV501 features an advanced filtration system with a HEPA filter that captures up to 99.97% of allergens and dust particles, making it a great choice for allergy sufferers.
Price & Value for Money 9.4
The Shark NV501 is priced competitively for its features and performance, offering excellent value for money. It's a versatile and effective vacuum that's well-suited for most homes.
    Durability & Build Quality 8.3
The Shark NV501 is constructed with durable materials and solid construction. While it may not be as sturdy as some premium vacuums, it's generally reliable and can withstand regular use.
    Weight & Portability 7.8
The Shark NV501 is a bit heavier than some other upright vacuums, weighing around 14 pounds. However, its Lift-Away feature makes it easier to maneuver and carry, particularly when detaching the canister for cleaning stairs or hard-to-reach areas.
    Cord vs Cordless
The Shark NV501 is a corded vacuum, which means it's always ready to use without worrying about battery life. However, the cord can be a bit restrictive when maneuvering, especially in larger spaces.

    Who’s the Shark NV501 For?

    • Homes With Pets & Children – Efficiently cleans varied messes.
    • Frequent Cleaners – Ideal for regular, thorough cleaning.
    • Allergy Sufferers – HEPA filter traps allergens.

Who Should Avoid the Shark NV501?

    • Budget Shoppers – Might be too expensive.
    • Small Space Dwellers – Bulkiness can be a storage issue.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the Shark NV501

    • Outstanding Suction & Design - I'm thrilled with the suction power and design of this Shark vacuum. It effortlessly picks up everything, even larger debris, without clogging. The thoughtful features, like bright headlights and easy-to-detach wand, enhance cleaning performance on various floor types. It's quieter than expected, adding to my satisfaction. The filter system requires minimal maintenance, indicating good quality.
    • Versatile & Effective Cleaning - As someone who cleans houses professionally, I appreciate the Shark's powerful suction, especially on carpets. The easy-empty canister and effective headlights are a plus. While it could use a larger canister and improved attachments, its overall performance outweighs these minor drawbacks. It's a reliable choice for different floor types.
    • Excellent Carpet & Hardwood Performance - After extensive research, I found the Shark NV501 excellent for carpets and hardwoods. It deeply cleans carpets, lifting the pile effectively, and gently cleans hardwoods without damaging the finish. The brush attachments are adequate, though an angled design would be better for baseboards. This vacuum offers great value for its price.
    • Quality Build & Convenient Features - I've used a Shark vacuum for 5 years and appreciate its consistent performance. The on/off switch's placement is inconvenient, but its suction power, build quality, and the lift-away feature make it a valuable tool for home cleaning. It's a well-built machine that offers good value for money.
    • Reliable & Efficient - The Shark vacuum's efficient design and features, like the lift-away option and onboard light, have impressed me. It's reliable in picking up dirt and debris, although the canister's bulk limits under-furniture reach. The full-width floor attachment is a useful addition, compensating for this minor downside.

    Cons of the Shark NV501

    • Difficult to Maneuver & Ineffective Stair Cleaning - I'm disappointed with the vacuum's maneuverability. It's hard to push on carpets, causing back pain. The lift-away feature for stairs lacks a motorized head, making it ineffective. The awkward shape and lack of a retractable cord are additional drawbacks. It doesn't match its high price in terms of ease of use and functionality.
    • Inconvenient Design & Average Suction - The placement of the on/off switch is inconvenient, requiring stopping and switching hands during cleaning. The lift-away feature doesn't work as expected, leaving only a hose for under-furniture cleaning. Suction power is just average, and the overall design makes it cumbersome to use.
    • Poor Durability & Customer Service - I regret buying a used Shark vacuum from Good As New Electronics. The vacuum broke after minimal use, and the seller's customer service was unhelpful. This experience highlights the risks of buying used products and the importance of additional warranties for electronics.

Our Expert Opinion of the Shark Matrix

I've had the chance to test out the Shark Matrix IQ Self-Emptying XL, and let me tell you, it's quite the game-changer in the world of vacuums.

This thing has amazing suction power, picking up everything from fine dust to pet hair without breaking a sweat. It's equally good on hardwood floors and carpets, adapting smoothly to whatever surface it's on.

The filtration system is a real star – it traps all those tiny particles and allergens like a pro.

It's not the lightest vacuum I've used, but it's still pretty easy to carry around, and the build quality feels solid and durable.

Considering all these high-end features, I think the price is pretty fair – you're definitely getting your money's worth.

When I put it head-to-head with the Roomba i3+ Evo, the Shark Matrix stands out, especially with its suction power on pet hair.

It holds its own against the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni, too.

These guys might have fancier navigation, but the Shark's filtration system is second to none.

And you know what's really surprising? How quiet it is.

Compared to its competitors, the Shark Matrix cleans up quietly in the background without making a ruckus.

The 2023 Shark Matrix IQ Self-Emptying XL brings some cool new features to the table.

We're talking about a self-emptying base – no more constant bin-emptying, enhanced suction that doesn't miss a spot, anti-hair wrap technology that's a godsend for pet owners, and the MultiFLEX technology which makes reaching under furniture a breeze.

The smart sensor navigation means it doesn't bump into stuff, and the PowerClean Pet Tool is fantastic for upholstery.

It even has an LED Crevice Tool for those hard-to-see spots, an Anti-Allergen Complete Seal for allergy sufferers, and an extended runtime, so you're not constantly recharging.

All in all, if you're looking for a versatile, powerful, and easy-to-use vacuum, the Shark Matrix is definitely worth checking out.

Price & Value for Money 8.4
The Shark Matrix Plus is a good value for money, especially considering its features and performance. It is more expensive than some other robot vacuums, but it is worth the extra money if you are looking for a high-quality vacuum that can clean your entire home.
    Durability & Build Quality 9.1
The Shark Matrix Plus is made from durable materials and it is built to last. It has a sturdy construction and it can withstand being bumped into or dropped.

    • Those Seeking Effortless Cleaning – Easy to maneuver and use.
    • Busy Professionals – Quick and efficient for time-saving.

Who Should Avoid the Shark Matrix?

    • Traditional Cleaning Enthusiasts – Might be overly complex.
    • Budget-Conscious Consumers – High price point might be a deterrent.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the Shark Matrix

    • Simple Setup & Efficient on Hardwood Floors - I found the setup process quick and easy, and the robot vacuum excels on our hardwood floors. The self-empty bin is a game-changer, reducing the need for constant supervision. Navigation is better than our previous models, and the vacuum is thorough, especially with edges and pet hair. The app, while lacking some features, is functional enough for daily use.
    • Best Robot Vacuum with Lidar Navigation & Impressive Mopping - I've tried various robot vacuums, and this Shark model tops them all, especially due to its lidar navigation. The mopping feature exceeded my expectations, cleaning hard floors effectively. The app's carpet avoidance feature works well, though the vacuum can be quite loud, especially when self-emptying.
    • Excellent for Pet Hair & User-Friendly Mop Function - As a first-time robot vacuum/mop user, I'm thrilled with its performance on hardwood, vinyl, and tile floors. It's great for dealing with pet hair and general debris. The mop function is easy to use and effective, especially with the option for a deeper clean. The noisiest part is the self-cleaning process, but it's tolerable.
    • Strong Suction & Thorough Cleaning - The suction power is impressive for its size, and the vacuum does an excellent job of cleaning, including pet hair. I appreciate the ability to set no-go zones and find the app quite functional, despite missing some desirable features.
    • Superior Performance & Convenient Features - This Shark vacuum outperforms previous models with its superior navigation and cleaning capabilities on hardwood floors. The self-empty bin adds convenience, and the vacuum’s thoroughness, especially in corners, is notable. Despite some minor mapping issues, the overall experience is highly satisfactory.

    Cons of the Shark Matrix

    • Connectivity Issues & Poor Customer Service - I've had persistent problems connecting the vacuum to the app. Despite multiple attempts and calls to customer service, the issue remains unresolved. The promise of a future update doesn't compensate for the current non-functionality, leading to significant frustration.
    • App Problems & Water Control Issues - The app is poorly designed, making room mapping and setting no-go zones a hassle. Rescanning the house is frequently required due to app glitches. The mop function releases excessive water, damaging my laminate flooring. I advise against this product for those seeking a reliable app and mop feature.
    • Glitchy Software & Aggressive Cleaning Approach - The vacuum, while initially impressive, reveals software glitches and an overly aggressive cleaning style. Dealing with customer service is frustrating, and the replacement unit didn't solve the issues. It's more like being a beta tester for an unfinished product, not worth the high price.

Our Expert Opinion of the Miele Complete C3 Marin

I've had the chance to test out the Miele Complete C3 Marin, and honestly, it blew me away with its suction power.

It just glides over different floor types, picking up dirt like a dream. What really stands out for me is its filtration system - it's top-notch, perfect for anyone with allergies.

The vacuum itself is built to last, feeling sturdy yet surprisingly light and easy to move around.

Sure, it's a bit on the expensive side, but you're definitely getting your money's worth in terms of performance and durability.

And let me tell you about the LED lit powerhead - it lights up dirt I didn't even know was there, making cleaning so much more efficient.

Now, when I compare the Miele to others like the SEBO AirBelt K3, Riccar SVC188C, or the Numatic Henry HVR200, there's a clear standout feature.

The Miele's LED lit powerhead is something you don't see in these other models.

It really makes a difference in visibility and cleaning effectiveness, especially in those darker corners.

All these vacuums are great in their own right, but the Miele's blend of power and innovative lighting just puts it a notch above the rest in practical use.

Talking about the latest 2023 release, the Miele Complete C3 Marin SGJE0, it's a significant step up from its predecessors.

It's packed with a 1200-watt Vortex motor that gives you incredible suction power.

The 4.5-liter dustbin is a game-changer, and the HEPA filtration is just what you need for clean air.

They've really improved on the maneuverability, the wand design, and even made it quieter.

If you're in the market for a canister vacuum, this one should definitely be on your radar.

Price & Value for Money 8.5
The Miele Complete C3 Marin is a premium vacuum cleaner that comes with a premium price tag. However, it is well worth the investment if you are looking for a high-quality vacuum cleaner that will last for many years.

The Miele Complete C3 Marin is built to last. It is made with high-quality materials and has a solid construction. It is also very easy to maintain and clean.
    Weight & Portability 8.1
The Miele Complete C3 Marin is a bit heavier than some other canister vacuum cleaners on the market. However, it is still relatively easy to maneuver and carry around.
    Cord vs Cordless
The Miele Complete C3 Marin is a corded vacuum cleaner. This means that it can provide consistent suction power and never runs out of battery. However, it can also be a bit cumbersome to use, as you have to drag the cord around with you.

Who Should Avoid the Miele Complete C3 Marin?

    • Those Seeking Basic Features – Too advanced for simple needs.
    • Budget-Conscious Shoppers – Price point might be prohibitive.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

Pros of the Miele Complete C3 Marin

    • Outstanding Suction Power & Durability - I upgraded to the C3 and it's amazing. This model is quieter, has a powerful head, and fantastic suction. It efficiently cleans baseboards and different surfaces. The longer hose and cord are a significant improvement. After 15 years, my old Miele still works; this new one seems even more durable.
    • Exceptional Cleaning Performance & Value - Instantly loved this vacuum. It's light, maneuverable, and has a reliable cord withdrawal. It's excellent on wool rugs and vinyl floors. Although pricey, it was worth the investment for its performance and bag capacity.
    • Superior Design & Functionality - This vacuum is a marvel: lightweight, easy to use, and quiet. The LED lights are surprisingly helpful. It's well-engineered, especially the handle and button placements. The power nozzle's design is a minor issue but manageable.
    • Impressive Engineering & No-Bend Features - The German engineering is evident in its design and efficiency. Changing bags and filters is straightforward, and the interior remains clean. The power head feature is convenient, though it can stop unexpectedly. Overall, a top-tier vacuum.
    • Excellent Build Quality & Husband's Approval - Even my engineer husband is impressed with its design and efficiency. The no-bend features for operation and cord retraction are standout points. Despite the high cost, its performance justifies the price.

Cons of the Miele Complete C3 Marin

    • Reliability Issues & Poor Customer Service - After 4 months of great performance, the vacuum suddenly lost suction and developed a high-pitched noise. It's disappointing for such an expensive product. I'm currently dealing with customer service, which will influence my final opinion.
    • Warranty Concerns & Inadequate Support - The vacuum broke after minimal use, and while it was fixed under warranty, the company denied any inherent defect. Their stance on not covering future similar issues is concerning, especially given the high price.
    • Subpar Construction & Design Flaws - Despite its great suction and quiet operation, the vacuum feels cheaply made. The accessory lid and stiff hose are problematic, and the advanced features on the Marin model don't justify the high cost.

Our Expert Opinion of the Hoover WindTunnel 3

I've had the chance to test out the Hoover WindTunnel 3 and I must say, I'm pretty impressed.

This vacuum has some serious suction power, making short work of dirt and debris on various surfaces. It's a champ on both carpets and hard floors, showing off its versatility.

What I really appreciate is the filtration system – it's super effective at trapping dust, which means cleaner air in the house.

Despite its tough build, it's surprisingly lightweight, so moving it around is a breeze.

The best part? It offers high-end features without breaking the bank. It definitely exceeded my expectations, especially considering what the specs suggested.

Comparing it to others like the Shark NV350K, Eureka PowerSpeed, and Bissell Cleanview Swivel Pet, the Hoover WindTunnel 3 stands out, especially on carpets.

While the Shark and Bissell are easier to maneuver, the Hoover consistently delivers across different floor types, which gives it an edge in my book.

The Eureka is a strong contender in terms of power, but the Hoover wins with its superior air filtration.

Now, about the latest Hoover WindTunnel 3 Max, released in 2023 – it's a step up from the previous models.

We're talking a more powerful motor, a bigger dirt cup, an improved brushroll, better filtration, ergonomic design, a self-cleaning brushroll, and it's still lightweight.

If you're looking for a vacuum that's both powerful and versatile, this is the one to watch.

Our Ratings of the Hoover WindTunnel 3

    Suction Power 8.5

Who’s the Hoover WindTunnel 3 For?

    • Pet Owners With Carpeted Homes – Effective at removing pet hair.
    • Large Homeowners – Suitable for extensive spaces.
    • Allergy Sufferers – Filters and traps dust and allergens.

Who Should Avoid the Hoover WindTunnel 3?

    • People Preferring Lightweight Vacuums – Might be too heavy.
    • Minimalists – Bulky and occupies more space.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

Pros of the Hoover WindTunnel 3

    • Outstanding Cleaning Performance & Value - I was initially disappointed to find this model had a lower amperage than my previous vacuum, but it exceeded my expectations. It effectively cleaned my carpet, picking up debris my old vacuum had missed. The suction power is impressive, and it handles pet hair with ease. I appreciate its flexibility in cleaning hard-to-reach areas like ceiling fans and vents. Overall, it's the best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned, offering excellent value for the price.
    • Reliable & Efficient with Good Price - I've found this vacuum to be a "heavy hitter" despite being slightly heavy. Its cord retraction feature works slowly but steadily. I've always had good experiences with this brand, and this model, which I got at a great price, seems to continue that tradition. I'm optimistic about its longevity.
    • Satisfactory Suction & Good on Different Surfaces - The vacuum's suction power is satisfactory, and it cleans well on both carpets and regular floors without scattering debris. It's effective in one pass, saving time and effort.
    • Effective for Pet Hair & Versatile - As a pet owner, I find its ability to pick up pet hair impressive. The vacuum is versatile, working well on multiple surface types, and the hose is flexible and easy to use for cleaning various areas of my home.
    • Solid Build & Good Cleaning Ability - The vacuum feels well-built and robust. Its cleaning ability, particularly for pet hair and on carpets, is commendable. The accessory for cleaning baseboards is a handy addition.

Cons of the Hoover WindTunnel 3

    • Poor Canister Design & Inadequate Features - The canister design is flawed, capturing dog hair around the filter, making it hard to clean. The lack of an adjustable brush and inadequate carpet height settings make it difficult to use on different surfaces. The overall design seems impractical and cumbersome.
    • Defective Unit & Poor Customer Service - I experienced a significant issue where the vacuum started smoking and the belt melted within five minutes of use. Hoover's customer service was unhelpful, only offering to send a replacement belt instead of replacing the unit. This experience has completely turned me off from the brand.
    • Mechanical Issues & Poor Dust Containment - The vacuum had mechanical problems from the start, with the cord retraction feature breaking immediately. Additionally, the canister doesn't seal properly, leading to dust escaping back into the house. This lack of reliability and poor design make it a frustrating experience.

Our Expert Opinion of the DEWALT DCV581H

I've had the chance to put the DEWALT DCV581H through its paces, and I've got to say, its suction power is something else.

It breezes through fine dust and larger debris without a hitch. I tried it on various floors - hardwood, carpet, you name it - and it held up well, though it did have a bit of trouble with bigger chunks on thick carpets.

What really got my attention was its filtration system. It's a beast at trapping fine dust and doesn't clog up, which is a big deal for someone like me who's always sneezing!

Comparing it to others like the Milwaukee M18, RIDGID, and ORKSHOP models, the DEWALT definitely has the upper hand in suction, especially with the big stuff.

Sure, Milwaukee and RIDGID have decent HEPA filters, but the DEWALT just does a better job with the tiny dust particles.

And let me tell you, its wet vacuum feature is a game-changer. It's not something they shout about, but it handles spills like a champ, giving it a leg up in versatility over the ORKSHOP.

Now, when we talk about upgrades, the DEWALT DCV581H is a step up from its older sibling, the DCV580H.

This thing's motor is powerful, churning out 31 CFM of suction.

And the filtration? It catches a whopping 99.97% of dust - way better for snagging allergens and other nasties in the air.

The design is spot on too, with an angled handle and a flexible hose that make it super user-friendly, especially if you need something versatile for both wet and dry messes.

    Who’s the DEWALT DCV581H For?

    • Handymen and Contractors – Useful for cleaning up after jobs.
    • Home Renovators – Excellent for post-renovation cleanup.
    • Outdoor Enthusiasts – Not restricted to indoor use.

Who Should Avoid the DEWALT DCV581H?

    • People Seeking Quiet Appliances – Might be louder than household vacuums.
    • Urban Apartment Dwellers – Potentially too robust for small spaces.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the DEWALT DCV581H

    • Suction Power & Portability - I find the suction power of this vacuum adequate, especially for light tasks like Sheetrock dust and cleaning my truck. Its portability is a big plus, making it convenient for small cleanup jobs around the house.
    • Portability & Wet Cleaning Performance - The vacuum's portability is a standout feature for me. It's particularly effective for wet applications, like pulling up water, which it did efficiently during a vacation mishap. It's handy for occasional dry use too.
    • Good For Light Duty & Portability - This vacuum is decent for light-duty tasks, like cleaning car interiors and concrete hallway stairs. Its portability is a big advantage, making it easy to carry around for small jobs.
    • Dewalt Brand & Battery Compatibility - I appreciate the brand's reputation and the compatibility with Dewalt batteries, as I already own several. This feature adds to the convenience, despite the need for stronger batteries for longer use.
    • Design & Occasional Use Efficiency - The design is thoughtful, though with some quirks like the placement of the blower port. It has been reliable for the few occasions I've needed it, proving efficient for short-term tasks.

    Cons of the DEWALT DCV581H

    • Limited Suction & Lack of Attachments - The vacuum struggles with larger debris, and the lack of attachments like an extension wand limits its utility. It's more suitable for smaller, less demanding tasks, not for heavy-duty cleaning.
    • Incompatibility Issues & Customer Service Hassle - I faced issues with battery compatibility, contrary to the product description. The customer service experience was frustrating, requiring extra effort to resolve the issue, which was a significant inconvenience.
    • Poor Suction & Value - The vacuum's suction power is disappointing, even for moderate expectations. It failed prematurely, making the overall value for money poor. The design flaws, like the reservoir shape, add to the inconvenience.

    Other HEPA Vacuums I Tested

We also gave the Homeika Cordless, Nicebay Handheld, and ORFELD Cordless Stick Vacuums a whirl, but they didn't quite hit the mark for our top HEPA vacuum picks.

    This is what I found:

    Homeika Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

I've tested the Homeika Cordless Vacuum and found its sleek design and lightweight build great for quick cleanups on hard surfaces.

However, the suction struggles with heavier tasks, and the battery life is disappointingly short, often running out in under 30 minutes.

It's a decent choice for light cleaning, but for more demanding jobs, you might want to look elsewhere.

    Nicebay Handheld Vacuum

I've given the Nicebay Handheld Vacuum a thorough test and found its compact size perfect for quick cleanups in small spaces like cars and RVs.

However, it struggles with pet hair and carpets, and the side air expulsion can scatter debris, making cleaning a bit tricky.

While it's handy for minor tasks, be mindful of its short battery life and some build quality issues.

    ORFELD Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner

I've tried the Shark NV360 and found its cordless, adjustable design quite handy for quick cleanups.

However, it often clogs, especially with pet hair, due to weak suction and poorly designed tubes.

It's an affordable option for light tasks, but for heavy-duty cleaning, it might not be the best choice.

What HEPA Vacuums Should You Avoid?

If you're in the market for a HEPA vacuum, I'd suggest steering clear of the Belife BVC11 and HOMPANY Cordless Vacuum Cleaner.

    Here's why:

    Belife BVC11

    Bissell Powerforce

I've tested the Belife BVC11 and found it's a bit of a letdown – it handles poorly, swerving during use, and the suction is weak, especially on carpets.

The design is flawed too, with a poorly placed dust bin release causing frequent messes.

In a nutshell, it's got potential, but these drawbacks really take the shine off its performance.

    HOMPANY Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

After testing the HOMPANY Cordless Vacuum, I found its suction power pretty underwhelming for its price, especially on carpets where it barely picks up anything.

The battery life is another letdown, as it doesn't last as long as promised and weakens during use.

Overall, it's got some neat features like headlights, but they don't make up for its core performance issues.

    My Recommended HEPA Vacuum

The Shark NV360 is my top pick due to its impressive suction power, making it a breeze to clean various surfaces from carpets to hardwood.

Its superior filtration system is a godsend for allergy sufferers, and its durability is worth noting.

Plus, the lift-away feature for easy stair and upholstery cleaning is a pleasant surprise, all at a reasonable price.
