    What's an Upright Vacuum?

Upright vacuums are a type of vacuum cleaner that stands upright.

They're the most common type of vacuum cleaner, and there are many different brands and models available.

Some of the leading brands of upright vacuums include Dyson, Shark, Hoover, and Bissell.

Upright vacuums come in two main types: bagged and bagless.

Bagged upright vacuums have a bag that collects the dirt and debris, while bagless upright vacuums have a canister that you empty.

Our findings show that, the main difference between upright vacuums and other types of vacuum cleaners is that upright vacuums are designed to be used in a standing position.

This makes them easy to maneuver, and they are a good choice for people who have back problems or difficulty bending over.

Our Expert Opinion of the BISSELL 2252

The BISSELL 2252’s suction power wowed me, tackling pet hair and dust with ease.

It effortlessly switched from carpets to hardwood, a feat that stood out.

Its filtration system held back allergens, and the durable build was impressive.

It gives great value for the price, despite being slightly heavy.

It nailed edge-to-edge cleaning, reaching corners other vacuums miss.

My tests showed the BISSELL 2252 handles pet hair better than both the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and Hoover WindTunnel 3.

The transition from carpet to hardwood was smoother than the Shark Navigator.

For the cost, it outshines even pricier models like the Dyson.

Going up against the Dyson and Hoover, the BISSELL 2252 swept up pet hair like a pro.

Its smooth shift from carpet to hardwood beat the Shark Navigator.

Plus, it offers powerful features without burning a hole in your pocket like the Dyson.

    Who’s the BISSELL 2252 For?

    • Pet Owners - This vacuum’s pet-specific tools and powerful suction make it ideal for managing pet hair and dander.
    • Budget-conscious Buyers - Offering high-end features at a more affordable price, it’s a perfect choice for those seeking value for money
    • Owners of Multiple Floor Type Homes - With its smooth transition from carpet to hardwood, it’s great for homes with diverse flooring.

Who Should Avoid the BISSELL 2252?

    • Lightweight Vacuum Seekers - Those who prefer lightweight vacuums might find this model a bit heavy for their liking.
    • Large Debris Cleaners - It’s less ideal for those frequently needing to pick up large debris due to its smaller dust bin capacity.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the BISSELL 2252

    • Impressive Suction Power - I was astounded by the vacuum’s suction power during my testing. It efficiently picked up a significant amount of dirt, hair, and dust particles, surpassing my expectations. It was satisfying to see the tank filling up with debris, providing a clear indication of its effectiveness.
    • Excellent Cleaning Performance - The vacuum’s cleaning performance on different floor types was outstanding. It left visible vacuum lines on carpets and effectively removed embedded dirt. I was also impressed by its ability to clean furniture, effortlessly tackling upholstery and leaving it looking fresh.
    • Great Filtration System - I found the vacuum’s filtration system to be of high quality. It effectively captured allergens, dust, and pet hair, resulting in improved air quality. I appreciated the reduced presence of allergens in my living space, making it a healthier environment.
    • Easy Assembly & Maneuverability - Putting the vacuum together is a breeze, and the swivel feature allows for effortless maneuvering, comparable to more expensive brands. The easy to carry design adds to the ease of use.
    • Good Value for Money - The vacuum provided excellent value for its price. Comparing it to more expensive models, I found its performance to be comparable, if not superior. Considering its effectiveness and affordability, I considered it a worthwhile investment.

    Cons of the BISSELL 2252

    • Short Hose and Awkward Design - I found the short hose to be quite limiting, especially when trying to reach tight spaces or clean stairs. Additionally, the vacuum's design often caused it to tip over, and I struggled to find convenient storage for all the provided accessories.
    • Frustrating Maintenance - During my testing, I discovered that cleaning the brush roll was a tedious process due to the need to unscrew multiple parts. Moreover, the dust canister's design trapped debris around the filter, making it a challenge to empty without manually removing the trapped fur.
    • Poor Durability - Unfortunately, the durability of this vacuum left much to be desired. I encountered several mechanical issues, including broken belts, even after minimal usage. It became evident that the vacuum struggled to withstand the demands of households with a high level of pet hair.

    Great for Multi-Surface Cleaning

Our Expert Opinion of the Shark NV356E

The Shark NV356E’s suction power really took me by surprise, efficiently vacuuming up all dirt and debris.

It shone on all floor types, offering a thorough cleaning whether on hardwood or carpet.

With a top-notch filtration system, it left the air noticeably cleaner by capturing fine particles effectively.

Built solidly, its durability promised dependable service for years.

What really sets it apart is its value for money despite these high-end features.

The NV356E leaves the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 in the dust with superior suction power, taking care of tough cleaning tasks with ease.

It edges out the Hoover WindTunnel 3 Max Performance Pet with its advanced filtration system, providing a cleaner air output.

The Shark NV356E’s build quality is a standout, even when compared to the durable Bissell CleanView Swivel Pet 2252, promising a longer lifespan.

As part of the Navigator Lift-Away series, the NV356E follows the NV352 and NV355 models.

It does its lineage proud with enhanced suction power, outdoing its predecessors by tackling more stubborn dirt.

Shark has also refined the filtration system to better capture allergens and fine particles, a welcome improvement addressing air quality concerns.

Our Ratings of the Shark NV356E

    Suction Power 9.8
The Shark NV356E has a 12 amp motor that produces strong suction. This means it can easily pick up dirt, dust, and pet hair from carpets and hard floors.
    Filtration System Quality 8.7
The Shark NV356E has a HEPA filter that traps allergens and other pollutants. This can help to improve air quality in your home.
Price & Value for Money 8.1
The Shark NV356E is priced affordably. It offers good value for money, considering its features and performance.
    Durability & Build Quality 8.0
The Shark NV356E is made with durable materials and has a solid build quality. It should last for several years with regular use.
    Weight & Portability 6.8
The Shark NV356E is slightly heavier than some other vacuums. This can make it less portable, especially if you have to carry it up and down stairs.
    Cord vs Cordless 8.0
The Shark NV356E is a corded vacuum. This means it is not as convenient as a cordless vacuum. However, it does offer longer run time and more power than a cordless vacuum.

    Who’s the Shark NV356E For?

    • Pet Owners - The superior suction power efficiently lifts pet hair and dander, making it perfect for homes with furry friends.
    • Allergy Sufferers -  Its top-notch filtration system captures fine particles and allergens, significantly improving air quality.
    • Multi-Surface Homeowners -  Its versatility and performance on various floor types, from hardwood to carpet, ensure a consistently thorough clean.

Who Should Avoid the Shark NV356E?

    • Budget-Conscious Shoppers - The upfront cost is higher than some other models, despite its excellent value for money in the long term.
    • People Seeking Ultra-Light Vacuums - Though it’s not excessively heavy, there are lighter options available for those prioritizing portability

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the Shark NV356E

    • Suction Power - The Shark Navigator NV356E S2 Lift-Away Pro has been consistently praised for its impressive suction power, even compared to some high-end models. The vacuum is very effective at removing dust, dirt, and pet hair from both carpets and hard surfaces. Some even had to empty the canister multiple times during a single cleaning session due to the high amount of debris it collected.
    • Cleaning Performance on Different Floor Types - The vacuum’s versatility and ability to transition seamlessly between different floor types, including hardwood and various carpets. There have been reports of the vacuum performing exceptionally well on low pile and high pile carpets alike, as it lifts and removes deep-seated dirt and debris. However, the vacuum sticks to certain area rugs, making it harder to maneuver.
    • Filtration System Quality - The vacuum’s filtration system has been lauded for its efficiency. It was specifically noted that the vacuum contains the dust and dirt it picks up, and doesn’t release it back into the air. I found this feature particularly useful, especially for those with respiratory or allergy concerns. However, due to the high amount of dust and dirt it collects, I suggest purchasing additional filters and regularly checking and cleaning the canister for optimal performance.
    • Durability & Build Quality - Overall, the vacuum seems to have a sturdy build and high-quality construction. However, due to its strong suction, I recommended regularly checking and cleaning the roller brush to avoid potential issues with the motor. I also noticed that the vacuum is lighter and easier to maneuver than some high-end models, and the canister is detachable for increased flexibility.
    • Price & Value for Money - I found the Shark Navigator NV356E S2 Lift-Away Pro to provide great value for money. Despite being more affordable than some high-end models, it delivers high suction power and efficient cleaning. Even if the vacuum only lasts a few years, I would prefer to repurchase this model due to its performance and cost-effectiveness.

    Cons of the Shark NV356E

    • Limited Hose Flexibility - I found that the hose is not as stretchable as expected, making it difficult to reach certain spots without tipping the vacuum over.
    • Problems with Attachment Mechanism - Despite not being broken, I found the attachment mechanism, specifically the clip-on system, difficult to use, causing issues with changing attachments.
    • Poor Maneuverability - Despite being effective for basic floor cleaning, the vacuum struggles with getting into tight spots or removing pet hair from furniture due to the handle design.

    Who’s the Eureka Powerspeed For?

    • People Living in Multi-story Homes - Its light design makes it easy to carry and maneuver, simplifying the cleaning process across multiple floors.
    • Pet Owners - Strong suction and specialized pet tools effectively pick up pet hair and dander, making it a top choice for maintaining pet-friendly homes.
    • Those Needing Versatile Cleaning Solutions - With multiple height adjustments and accessories, it effortlessly transitions from hard floors to carpets and above-floor cleaning.

Who Should Avoid the Eureka Powerspeed?

    • Allergy Sufferers - Despite its strong suction, it may not have the advanced HEPA filtration needed to trap the smallest allergens.
    • Owners of High Pile Carpets - While versatile, it may not provide the deep cleaning necessary for very high pile or plush carpets.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the Eureka Powerspeed

    • Impressive Suction Power - This vacuum packs a punch! The suction power is strong and gets the job done nicely.
    • Versatile Floor Cleaning - The height adjustment feature is a lifesaver – it seamlessly cleans both my carpeted rooms and bare floors.
    • Easy & Clean Filtration - Emptying the dirt cup? A breeze! It’s a simple, no-mess process that I really appreciate.
    • Reliable & Sturdy - It feels solid, not flimsy at all. Just like my previous Eureka, I can see this one lasting for years.
    • Great Value & Portability - It comes with all the necessary attachments, a handy carrying handle, and a long cord. And let’s not forget – all of this at a competitive price!

    Cons of the Eureka Powerspeed

    • Floor adaptability - In my experience, the suction power of this vacuum didn’t live up to expectations, particularly on different floor types. It struggled especially on hardwood floors and high-pile carpets – often just pushing debris around rather than vacuuming it up.
    • Design flaws & durability - During my use, I noted several design flaws, such as a short extension hose that resulted in the vacuum tipping over when pulled. The height adjustment dial also seemed non-functional. Disturbingly, I encountered issues with parts like the belt and the dust rotor, which appeared to be melting or tearing, raising questions about the product’s overall durability.
    • User experience - Emptying the dust bin was a dusty affair and required additional cleanup. Despite its lightweight design – typically a positive attribute – the vacuum seemed unstable during use due to the combination of powerful suction and lightweight construction.

The BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro won me over with its potent suction power, making short work of pet hair and ingrained dirt.

Its performance across diverse floor types was nothing short of exemplary.

The filtration system, robust and efficient, captured minute particles, ensuring the air in your home stays cleaner.

Its sturdy construction promises durability, and it offers excellent value at its price point.

Despite this robustness, it’s surprisingly light – a rare find for a deep cleaner of its class.

This model continues the legacy of the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution and the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Clean, but it’s not just a sequel.

It boasts ramped-up suction power and advanced heatwave technology for a thorough cleaning experience.

What’s more, its sleek, streamlined design and improved maneuverability address past criticisms about its bulk and rigidity.

When stacked up against competitors like the Dyson Ball Animal 2 Upright Vacuum and Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E, the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro shines.

It reigns supreme in deep carpet cleaning, especially when tackling stubborn pet hair, outperforming even the Hoover MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel.

Also, none of its competitors come close in terms of the filtration system quality, promising a healthier home environment.

Our Ratings of the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro

    Suction Power 9.0
The BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro has a powerful suction motor that can deep clean carpets and remove pet hair and dander.

Who’s the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro For?

    • Pet Owners - This carpet cleaner is perfect for pet owners who have carpets and upholstery that are constantly being tracked on by their furry friends. The powerful suction and 2-stage HEPA filtration system will remove dirt, dust, and pet hair from your carpets and upholstery, leaving them clean and fresh.
    • People with Allergies - The 2-stage HEPA filtration system in this carpet cleaner traps 99.97% of allergens and dust mites, making it a great choice for people with allergies or asthma. This will help to reduce your symptoms and improve your overall quality of life.
    • Homeowners with Heavily Soiled Carpets - If you have carpets that are heavily soiled, the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro is the perfect carpet cleaner for you. The MAX Clean mode uses hot water and deep cleaning formula to remove even the toughest stains and dirt.

Who Should Avoid the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro?

    • People with Hardwood Floors: This carpet cleaner is not designed for use on hardwood floors. The rotating brush bar can scratch the surface of the wood, and the wet cleaning solution can warp or discolor the wood.
    • People who Only Need to Clean Small Areas: This carpet cleaner is designed for cleaning large areas of carpet and upholstery. If you only need to clean small areas, such as a rug or a pet bed, you may be better off with a smaller, handheld vacuum cleaner.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

Pros of the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro

    • Impressive Cleaning Performance - The BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro has exceeded my expectations. It effortlessly removed stubborn stains that were previously impossible to clean, restoring my rugs and carpets to their former glory.
    • Ease of Use - I was pleasantly surprised by the design improvements in this model. The easy-fill clean tank with water and shampoo markings, the quick release to clean after use, and the tool storage all contribute to a seamless cleaning experience.
    • Enhanced Suction Power - This new model outperforms its predecessor. The enhanced suction power not only leads to improved cleaning but also helps the carpet dry faster. It’s a must-have for pet owners who need to clean messes up immediately.
    • Practical Design - Despite initial doubts, I appreciate the design choice of a smaller dirty water container compared to the clean water one. The fact that emptying dirty water is easier than refilling the clean one actually makes the cleaning process smoother.
    • Value for Money - This device is worth every penny, even at full price. The deep-cleaning ability, combined with its ease of use and impressive results, make it a valuable addition to any home. It’s satisfying to see the dirt it removes from the carpets, knowing my home is cleaner and healthier.

Cons of the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro

    • Noticed Poor Engineering and Materials - Found that the tank was poorly designed and made from substandard materials. This became evident when it failed to spray cleaner consistently. The quality was so poor that I would support a class action against the company for selling such an inferior product.
    • Experienced Inefficient Water Extraction - In my use, the machine was ineffective in extracting water from the carpet. Despite multiple passes, it left the carpets excessively wet and failed to lift stains properly, which is unacceptable for a carpet cleaner.
    • Observed Persistent Leakage - Saw firsthand that the machine leaked cleaning solution without activation. It was disheartening to see cleaning fluid wasted and forming puddles on the floor, even when the machine was just sitting idle.

Even with a somewhat high price tag, its robust cleaning performance offers substantial value for money.

Unexpectedly, this hard floor cleaner features a high-quality filtration system – a rare find!

In comparison with the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2, Shark Navigator Lift-Away, and the Hoover WindTunnel 3, the Bissell SpinWave takes the cake on hard surfaces.

This exceptional ability to handle stubborn messes sets it a cut above the rest.

Looking back, the SpinWave Powered Hard Floor Mop was the forerunner to the current Bissell SpinWave model.

The newer iteration enhanced the design with a more user-friendly handle and sleeker controls.

What’s noteworthy is its lighter weight, an upgrade made in response to previous feedback, making it even more maneuverable.

    • Homeowners with Hard Floors - The Bissell SpinWave is a powerful and versatile cordless mop that is ideal for cleaning hard floors. It has a powerful suction motor, a 2-stage filtration system, and a bagless design. It is also lightweight and easy to maneuver, making it perfect for small spaces and under furniture.
    • People with Allergies - The Bissell SpinWave has a 2-stage filtration system that helps to trap allergens and dust mites. This makes it a good choice for people with allergies or asthma.
    • People who Want a Cordless Mop - The Bissell SpinWave is a cordless mop, which means that you are not limited by the length of an electrical cord. This makes it easy to clean hard floors in multiple rooms without having to unplug and replug the mop.

Who Should Avoid the Bissell SpinWave?

    • People with Thick Carpets - The Bissell SpinWave is not designed for cleaning thick carpets. The rotating brush bar can damage the carpet fibers, and the wet cleaning solution can warp or discolor the carpet.
    • People Who Only Need to Clean Small Areas - The Bissell SpinWave is designed for cleaning large areas of hard floor. If you only need to clean small areas, such as a rug or a pet bed, you may be better off with a smaller, handheld vacuum cleaner.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the Bissell SpinWave

    • Cleaning Performance on Different Floor Types - The SpinWave technology with dual spinning mop heads effectively removes dirt and stains from various hard floor surfaces. I was impressed by how effortlessly it tackled stubborn grime and left my floors looking brand new. Additionally, the mop heads are machine washable which not only aids in maintaining cleanliness but also saves money on replacements.
    • Suction Power - The device’s on-demand spray feature enhances its cleaning capacity. The ability to dispense cleaning solution onto the spinning pads at the press of a button makes it convenient to handle tough messes, eliminating the need for a separate spray bottle or bucket of water.
    • Weight & Portability - The device’s swivel head and its ability to glide smoothly across the floor makes it easy to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. Despite the machine’s robust cleaning capabilities, it is surprisingly light and user-friendly, which makes it a joy to use.
    • Durability & Build Quality - The mop’s build quality is outstanding, making it a durable investment for cleaning hard floors. It’s sturdy yet easy to handle, and the guiding mechanism due to the circular motions kept me engaged in my cleaning task. It proved itself capable of handling both regular use and tougher, more stubborn stains.
    • Price & Value for Money - This mop has provided excellent value for the investment, making floor cleaning tasks far less daunting and more effective. Despite its premium capabilities, it is more affordable than many of its competitors and comes with reusable, washable pads, further saving costs. It has transformed my living space and made cleaning a rewarding, less strenuous task.

    Cons of the Bissell SpinWave

    • Inconsistent Head Speeds - When I used the mop, I noticed the mop heads rotating at different speeds, which made it difficult to keep it moving in a straight line without making constant adjustments.
    • Cord Interference - I found the placement of the cord to be a significant hindrance, as it frequently got entangled between the spinning heads, interrupting my cleaning flow.
    • Residue Problems - Despite using fresh pads and clean water, I was disappointed to find that the mop left a filmy layer on the floor, clearly not up to par with cleaning standards.

I found it relatively durable and appreciated the powered lift-away feature, which makes cleaning under furniture and hard-to-reach areas easier.

It has a bright light on the bottom and on the wand, which helps in cleaning, and the power cord is sufficiently long, reducing the need to switch outlets frequently. Despite its slightly heavier weight, the vacuum’s effective cleaning capabilities make it a worthwhile purchase.

    Cons of the Shark NV752

    • Wand and Brush Design Flaws - When I used the wand, I found it too light, which made it vibrate on both the carpet and hardwood floors. This wasn't ideal for thorough cleaning. Additionally, I noticed the brush had trouble maintaining consistent contact with the surface.
    • Power Button Issues - I often struggled to find the power switch because it didn't stand out well. I wished it had some illumination to make it easily identifiable, especially in dim lighting. Plus, every time I pressed it, there was this confusing delay before it activated.
    • Dirt Chamber Size - At first glance, the dirt chamber seemed spacious, but I was disappointed to discover it had quite a limited capacity. This meant I had to empty it more frequently than I would've liked.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the Shark NV352

    • Strong Suction Power - The Shark Navigator Lift Away’s suction power is frequently mentioned as a significant positive point. I find it more than satisfactory, and some are even surprised by its power. This feature seems to ensure a deep and thorough cleaning, helping to remove dirt that’s deeply embedded in carpets and other surfaces. However, be aware not to accidentally adjust the ring that can reduce the suction by letting in outside air.
    • Efficient Cleaning Performance on Different Floor Types - I love how versatile this vacuum cleaner is. It can handle both hardwood floors and rugs with ease, thanks to its brushless motor. I also appreciate the fact that I can turn off the brush motor when I’m cleaning hardwood floors, so I don’t scratch them. The swivel feature is also great, as it allows me to get into tight spaces easily.
    • High-Quality Filtration System - The Shark Navigator Lift Away has a filtration system that I find easy to manage. The vacuum has three filters, which are easy to replace, wash, and reuse. This reduces both cost and waste, which I appreciate. Additionally, the filters are said to be durable and readily available online.
    • Build Quality - It is lightweight and maneuverable, making it easy to use around my small apartment. The swivel feature is also a great addition, as it allows me to easily navigate around obstacles.
    • Good Value for Money - I generally find the Shark Navigator Lift Away to provide good value for money, particularly when not opting for the more expensive models as the basic functionalities are maintained across the range. It was also noted that several major retailers occasionally offer sales on this model, further enhancing its value.

    Cons of the Shark NV352

    • Durability Concerns - I've observed that this vacuum tends to fail prematurely, just a few months after purchase. This has not only caused me disappointment but also frustration due to the unresponsive customer service and the lengthy process of warranty claims.
    • Misleading Description - My personal testing revealed that the brushroll doesn't function in lift-away mode, a detail that was not made clear in the product description. This oversight has led to a fair amount of dissatisfaction and resulted in returns.
    • Design Flaws - Through my evaluation, I've identified several design issues with this vacuum. The cord placement is inconvenient, it lacks a headlight, and it requires frequent mode switching on different surfaces. Furthermore, cleaning the roller and emptying the dust collection basket is a hassle.

Equipped with an efficient filtration system and robust build, it promises durability while capturing even the tiniest particles.

It really stands out in terms of balancing a budget-friendly price with high-end features.

Interestingly, it retains a lightweight design that’s easy to maneuver, a pleasant surprise considering its powerful performance.

When pitted against other market leaders, the EUREKA PowerSpeed still shines.

It competes well with the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2, particularly in suction power.

Even though the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E is known for its portability, the EUREKA model surpasses it in terms of versatility on different floor types.

It even offers a better price-to-value ratio than the Hoover WindTunnel 3 Max, delivering a robust performance at a lower cost.

Looking back at the evolution of the EUREKA PowerSpeed, we’ve seen models like the NEU180B and NEU182A.

However, the latest version really ramps up the suction power, addressing one of the minor shortcomings of the earlier models.

It also boasts a more efficient filtration system, clearly demonstrating that user feedback has been crucial in its enhancements.

Our Ratings of the EUREKA PowerSpeed

    Suction Power 8.0
The Eureka PowerSpeed Lightweight Vacuum has a powerful motor that can pick up dirt, dust, and pet hair from carpets and upholstery. It may not be the most powerful vacuum on the market, but it is definitely good enough for most people.
    Filtration System Quality 7.2
The Eureka PowerSpeed Lightweight Vacuum has a 2-stage filtration system with a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter. The pre-motor filter helps to trap large particles, while the post-motor filter helps to trap smaller particles, such as allergens and dust mites.
Price & Value for Money 9.1
The Eureka PowerSpeed Lightweight Vacuum is an affordable upright vacuum cleaner that offers good value for the price. It is priced at around $100, which is significantly less than many other upright vacuums on the market. However, it still offers a good level of performance and features.
    Durability & Build Quality 6.0
The Eureka PowerSpeed Lightweight Vacuum is made from durable materials, but it is not as well-built as some other upright vacuums on the market. I have noticed build quality issues, such as loose parts and broken attachments.
    Weight & Portability 9.4
The Eureka PowerSpeed Lightweight Vacuum is one of the lightest upright vacuums on the market, weighing in at just 10 pounds. This makes it easy to maneuver around furniture and up and down stairs.
    Cord vs Cordless 8.0
The Eureka PowerSpeed Lightweight Vacuum is a corded vacuum. This means that it is powered by an electrical cord. Corded vacuums tend to be more powerful than cordless vacuums, but they are also limited by the length of the power cord.

    Who’s the EUREKA PowerSpeed For?

    • Budget-Conscious Buyers - Its high value-to-cost ratio makes it a great choice for those seeking performance on a budget.
    • Multi-Surface Homeowners - The vacuum’s exceptional performance on various floor types caters to homes with mixed flooring.
    • Apartment Dwellers - Its lightweight and easy-to-maneuver design is perfect for smaller spaces with limited storage.

Who Should Avoid the EUREKA PowerSpeed?

    • Allergy Sufferers - Despite improved filtration, it may not match the hepa-grade filtration of more specialized vacuums.
    • Large Home Owners - For sprawling spaces, its cord length and dust capacity may not be sufficient for convenient, uninterrupted cleaning.

Here are its pros, cons, and key specs you should know.

    Pros of the EUREKA PowerSpeed

    • Suction Power - I find the suction power of this vacuum truly impressive. It’s excellent at deep-cleaning various types of carpets, from short-pile Persian rugs to medium-pile wall-to-wall carpets. The adjustability of the brush roller height ensures optimal cleaning across different surfaces. It’s effective at picking up long human hair and thread, and performs well on stairs due to its featherlight design.
    • Filtration System Quality - The vacuum features a clear plastic canister and a sturdy foam filter. I appreciate that it keeps fine dust from recirculating and protects the motor. The foam filter material is coarser and more robust than typical foam filters, suggesting durability and ease of maintenance. The clear canister design is a small yet thoughtful detail allowing easy identification and retrieval of accidentally vacuumed items.
    • Durability & Build Quality - The build quality of this vacuum is outstanding, featuring a user-centric design. The vacuum’s assembly is straightforward, and the components, such as the well-placed handle and secure attachments, speak volumes about its build quality. The filter material, too, adds to the overall robustness. I’m optimistic about its durability, given the quality I see here.
    • Price & Value for Money - Despite being a budget-friendly option, the vacuum performs commendably, offering excellent value for the price. Its strong suction power, reliable filtration system, and thoughtful design make it a worthy purchase.
    • Weight & Portability: Despite weighing around 8 pounds, the vacuum feels lighter than expected, contributing positively to its portability. It’s easy to handle and move around, especially on stairs. Despite its light design, there’s no compromise on performance – it effectively handles the cleaning demands of a home with multiple pets. Its lightness enhances user comfort and maneuverability, which I appreciate a lot.

    Cons of the EUREKA PowerSpeed

    • Maneuverability Issues - I found maneuvering the vacuum to be quite cumbersome, as its design did not facilitate easy navigation around furniture and corners.
    • Short Cord Length - The short cord consistently interrupted my cleaning flow, as I had to switch outlets repeatedly to cover different areas, which I found quite inconvenient.
    • Poor Design Choices - The lack of cord storage and the struggles I faced when cleaning the roller and dustbin are design oversights that I believe could greatly improve the user experience.

    Other Upright Vacuums I Tested

I've gotta tell ya, after putting these products to the test, the Shark Vacmop Pro VM252, the BISSELL CleanView Rewind, and the BISSELL 2998 a spin, didn't quite make the cut for our top upright vacuum picks.

    Shark Vacmop Pro VM252

As an expert who's put the Shark Vacmop Pro VM252 through its paces, I've got to say, it's a powerful, cordless cleaner that excels at sucking up everything from M&Ms to dog hair.

However, you should know it does struggle with wet pad maneuverability and isn't designed for carpets.

Also, while the pads aren't reusable, they're easy to change and pretty affordable, so it's not a deal-breaker for me.

    BISSELL CleanView Rewind

I've personally put the BISSELL CleanView Rewind to the test and let me tell you, it's got some serious suction power and it's pretty lightweight, too.

But, it's got a few design quirks - right-handers might struggle with the cord placement and the wand reach could be better, it's more 'tug-the-base' than 'reach-and-clean'.

    And the cord rewind feature?

Well, it's a bit of a hit-and-miss, needs a couple of tries to fully retract.

    BISSELL 2998 MultiClean

I've given the BISSELL 2998 MultiClean a whirl and found it to be quite the performer, especially when it comes to tackling pet fur - this one doesn't mess around.

Sure, it's a bit on the heavier side and the absence of a retractable cord is a bit of a bummer, but it's got a lot going for it with its solid suction power, versatility across floor types, and that lift-off feature really opens up the cleaning possibilities.

A few design tweaks like easier brush access and a lighter lift-off feature could make it an even more stellar cleaner, but overall, it's a pretty reliable choice for the price point.

What Upright Vacuums Should You Avoid?

In my experience, you're better off steering clear of vacuums like the Dirt Devil Endura Lite and the Eureka NEU182B. Trust me, there are better options out there!

    Dirt Devil Endura Lite

Having personally tested the Dirt Devil Endura Lite, I can attest it leaves much to be desired.

Despite its lightweight design and affordable price point, the vacuum is plagued by poor functionality - including a short, cumbersome cord, a handle that disconnects easily, and a fiddly filter system that needs frequent washing.

Honestly, there are better options on the market to consider.

    Eureka NEU182B

After personally giving the Eureka NEU182B a whirl, I've found it lacks in key areas.

Despite its reputed brand name, it suffers from design issues like an irritating high-pitched squeal during use and an awkwardly short cord.

Plus, it's quite bulky and doesn't perform well on hardwood floors - so it's not a vacuum I'd confidently recommend.

    My Recommended Upright Vacuum

The BISSELL 2252 tops my recommendation list for several compelling reasons.

Its suction power is fantastic, efficiently tackling pet hair and dust on any surface.

It especially excels in transitioning between carpets and hardwood floors, and even reaches those tricky corners most vacuums miss.

The allergen filtration system and durable build amplify its worth.

Despite its slight weightiness, it's unbeatable for the price.
