How Do Vacuum Warranties Work & Why’re They Important?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

Vacuums are one of the most popular home appliances. They can be used on a variety of surfaces such as tile, carpet, and wood flooring.

These machines vary in features and price points, but they all have one thing in common: warranties.

    But where to start?

This article will go over some things you should know about vacuum warranties before purchasing your next vacuum cleaner.

    What Is a Warranty?

A warranty is a promise that the manufacturer will repair or replace an item if it breaks.

Warranties are typically offered for appliances and home electronics, but many other products offer them as well.

In most cases, you can get your vacuum repaired without paying anything out of pocket – either by calling customer service or bringing your vacuum in to be serviced.

    What Is Covered?

Vacuum warranties cover all sorts of different repairs, depending on which type of machine you purchase.

Most people think about vacuums only working on surfaces like tile floors and carpeting.

However, models are made specifically for use with upholstery such as couches and recliners.

Your specific model may have some limitations regarding what surfaces the vacuum can be used on, so it’s important to read the warranty information before purchase.

    Dyson Models

Dyson’s is a unique vacuum that doesn’t use bags. They have an easy-to-clean filter and feature HEPA1 filtration, which helps with allergy2 problems and is asthma-friendly.

With Dyson models, you’ll need to call customer service for any repairs or replacement of your machine.

The other types of vacuums typically offer protection plans at the time of purchase, so make sure you read the fine print before buying.

    Hoover Models

Some Hoover models use bags, while others don’t.

The bagged upright vacuum will have a warranty for the life of your machine.

However, other types such as canister vacuums and stick vacuum cleaners are typically only covered under warranties if you purchase an additional protection plan at the time of purchase.

This is why it’s important to read through all the terms before making any purchases.

    Miele Models

Miele offers the best warranties for those looking to purchase a vacuum cleaner.

They offer up to ten years of coverage on some models, which is unheard of in today’s market.

The warranty covers everything from mechanical parts such as motors and bearings down to electrical components like lights and switches.

Mieles also come with lifetime filters that never need replacing – even if they’re washed multiple times per week.

    Bissell Models

Bissell vacuums are a favorite among many people due to their versatility and affordability.

They offer up to five years of coverage for most models, but there are some exceptions, such as the Bissel PowerClean Pet Hair Eraser, which has only one year of warranty protection.

It’s important to be aware of these differences before purchasing your vacuum cleaner.

    Shark Models

Shark offers a wide range of vacuum cleaners – from upright models to canisters and even stick vacuums.

For Shark products sold in North America, the warranty is typically one year for labor and parts.

However, this will vary by region depending on what country you live in. Some regions may have less coverage than others, so it’s important to check before buying.

    What Is Not Covered?

It’s not uncommon to hear people say that they don’t need a warranty because their machine never breaks down or malfunctions.

Unfortunately, all machines break eventually due to wear-and-tear, so warranties are always recommended if possible.

The only thing your vacuum cleaner might be covered under when it comes time for repairs is the warranty on your home itself, which typically covers damage from spills and water leaks.

Most warranties don’t cover wear-and-tear3 or outside causes, such as bringing in dirt or other debris to the inside of your machine.

You’ll need to use a vacuum cleaner with filters that can be easily washed off, like Shark’s DuoClean vacuum cleaner for these kinds of situations.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?

If you have a problem with your vacuum and need repairs, customer service will instruct you on what steps to take next.

Most of the time, they’ll either send out a replacement part or give you the information on how to do the repairs yourself.

You must follow their instructions exactly, or else the warranty will be voided, and there is a possibility of voiding your home warranty as well due, so make sure you’re doing everything right.

    Still, Think Warranties Aren’t Important?

The best way to protect your vacuum cleaner is by purchasing a warranty.

While not all warranties are created equal, they can offer you peace of mind knowing that any repairs will be taken care of without incurring high repair costs yourself.

It’s worth mentioning that some companies even come with accidental damage protection – just in case something happens while it’s being shipped or stored.

If this does happen, then the company should send out an identical replacement machine within 24 hours.

How Can I Safeguard My Warranty?

It’s important to always read through the terms of your warranty before making any purchase.

Some warranties only cover damage from one sort of thing, while others will offer protection for a variety of different things, so it’s best to know what you’re getting.

It would help if you also took care of your vacuum by following all manufacturer instructions and running regular maintenance checks on both the machine itself as well as its filters.

This way, you can spot potential problems early on before they snowball into something bigger.

    Register Your Warranty

One of the most important steps you can take to protect your vacuum and prolong life is by registering it.

This two-minute process will let you know when parts are nearing their expiration date or any other problems with the machine.

You should also register your warranty if anything happens to go wrong during shipment or storage so that customers service knows how to get things back on track quickly.

    Expect Things to Go Wrong

No matter how often you use your vacuum, it’s inevitable4 that something will go wrong eventually.

That’s why warranties are so important – they give you peace of mind knowing that repairs won’t be as expensive or time-consuming as they might have been without one.

There are many reasons to protect your vacuum with a warranty.

One of the most important is how much it can shorten the time and costs you’ll incur if something goes wrong, which will allow you more time to enjoy using your machine for years to come.

    Check Your State Laws

Different states have different laws when it comes to warranties.

Some might require that you register your warranty before using it, while others don’t offer any protection once the machine is out of its warranty period.

If this sounds like something you want to know more about, check with your local government and start reading through all those terms, so nothing catches you by surprise during repairs.

    In Conclusion

Vacuum warranties are a great way to ensure that you can get your vacuum repaired or replaced if it malfunctions.

But just because the warranty is available doesn’t mean you should always purchase one with every new vacuum.

You need to do some research and find out how much coverage each warranty offers, what the terms of service entail, as well as any additional fees for repair work before making this decision.

So when buying a new household appliance like a vacuum cleaner, take time to explore all of your vacuum warranties options to make sure you have all the information necessary to choose which type will best suit your needs and budget.

  • Can Energy-Efficient Vacuum Cleaners REALLY Save You Money?

Can Energy-Efficient Vacuum Cleaners REALLY Save You Money?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

Energy-efficient vacuum cleaners are an essential appliance for any household.

They help keep your floors and furniture clean while also helping you save time because they eliminate the need to sweep or dust.

But there are many different types of vacuum cleaners on the market today, and some can use up a lot of energy when they’re running.

    But where to start?

This article will explore which type of vacuum cleaner best suits your needs for home cleaning – in terms of both effectiveness and efficiency.

Do Vacuum Cleaners Use a Lot of Electricity?

Because vacuums are one of the most used appliances in your home, they can be a big drain on energy.

The average vacuum cleaner wastes around 60% more power than what it would have taken to run an upright model for that same period (according to Energy Star).

The good news is that various types of vacuum cleaners are available today with varying levels of efficiency and effectiveness.

They range from bagless uprights to carpet steamers and robot models.

So you’re sure to find something that suits both your needs as well as meeting or exceeding the environmental standards set by Energy Star guidelines1.

    Vacuum Cleaner Consumption

How Much Power Does My Vacuum Cleaner Use?

The power usage of a top vacuum cleaner depends on the type and size of the model.

According to Energy Star, bagless models can use anywhere from 100-300 watts, while upright vacuums typically consume about 300-500 watts or more with larger motors (depending on the weight).

When shopping for your next vacuum cleaner, it’s important to find one that meets both your needs as well as meeting standards set by Energy Star guidelines.

Choosing the Right Type of Vacuum Cleaner for Your Home

There are various types of vacuum cleaners available today.

You’re sure to find something that suits both your needs as well as meeting or exceeding the environmental standards set by Energy Star guidelines.

    Type of Vacuum Cleaner

    Automated Vacuum Cleaners

Robot vacuums are the most popular automated vacuum cleaner, and they’re currently leading the market in terms of sales.

They use advanced sensors to map out your room before cleaning it with a wide range of settings (including scheduling) and usually costing anywhere from $200-700 dollars.

For them to work properly, you need an area that is at least 150 square feet or larger; otherwise, they won’t cover all corners adequately.

    Stick vs. Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Upright and stick vacuum cleaners are also popular choices for people looking to save on energy.

Uprights require less power because the vacuuming is done vertically, while “stick” models (like canisters) use even less power than an upright bagless model and fit in more spaces due to their smaller design.

They’re a good option if you have pets or allergies that require additional features like HEPA2 filters which may not be found in other types of vacuums.

    Upright vs. Cylinder Vacuum Cleaners

Upright and cylinder vacuum cleaners are the most common type of vacuum cleaners on the market.

The upright model is better for hard flooring, while a cylinder can be used to clean both carpets and hard floors with various attachments or specialized brushes.

However, the downside with cylinders is that they require more energy because their design requires them to move in all directions, which means you have no option but to use power when using one.

    Bagless vs. Bag Vacuum Cleaners

Bagless vacuum cleaners can have a higher upfront cost due to the need for more parts, but they also save you from having to buy replacement bags.

They are typically bagged upright models that use a cyclone system rather than disposable paper filters and come in various sizes (from small handheld versions to large home units).

Bag vacuums, however, still require an initial purchase of replacement bags, but not as often or expensively compared with traditional bagless models.

Are Cordless Vacuum Cleaners More Energy-Efficient?

Cordless vacuum cleaners are becoming more and more popular thanks to the convenience they offer people who don’t want cords getting in their way.

While cordless vacuums can come with various power settings, you must know how much of a charge your battery has before cleaning, as this will affect the power usage and performance.

For example, with a full charge, you might be able to vacuum for about 20 minutes before needing to recharge the battery (which takes about 12 hours).

This is more than an upright bagless model that can last up to 60 minutes on one charge.

The downside of cordless models, though, is that they are not as powerful due to restrictions in size, so it’s best if these aren’t your first choice when wanting something heavy-duty3.

Vacuuming Tips to Decrease Your Energy Usage

    • Use a vacuum cleaner with an automatic shutoff if you leave the room for more than 30 minutes.
    • Avoid using your vacuuming to clean up too much at once, and use the appropriate attachment depending on what you’re trying to clean (e.g., don’t try getting pet hair off of a couch or bed by using just the hose).
    • Only turn it on when needed, not before cleaning. This will save both energy and time since some models are programmed to automatically switch off after two hours of inactivity without being used (i.e., turned on).
    • Consider replacing old vacuum cleaners that have become less effective over time due to wear and tear or age, as this can make a huge difference to your power usage.
    • Buy an energy-efficient4 vacuum cleaner (HEPA filters, Energy Star ratings) if you’re looking for a more expensive model that will save on power and time.
    • Clean out your vacuum cleaner before and after every use to avoid clogs or other problems that will need more power.
    • Remove any attachments not being used to reduce the machine’s weight, thereby saving on energy.
    • Use a brush attachment for wood floors instead of suction alone as this can make it easier and less tiring when cleaning certain types of flooring.

  • What Does an Ionizer Air Purifier Do?

What Does an Ionizer Air Purifier Do?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

Ionizer air purifiers are devices that have been developed to remove harmful particles from the air.

Ionizing technology releases electrically charged molecules in ions, which attach themselves to pollutants and neutralize them.

Ionizers are an excellent way to keep your home or office clean and healthy for you and your family members. This article will discuss everything you need to know about ionizer air purifiers, including their function, benefits, and the available different types.

    But where to start?

What Is an Ionizer Air Purifier?

To understand ionizer air purifiers, it’s essential that you first know the difference between an ion and a molecule1. An Ion has either a negative or positive charge, while molecules are neutral in order.

These charges exist because of how atoms interact within matter. Positively charged ions will work together with negatively charged particles for a neutral result.

Ionizer air purifiers emit negatively and positively charged ions into the air and attach themselves to particles such as dust, mould spores, pollen, and pet dander.

This process neutralizes the charge of these particles so they can no longer cling to furniture, walls, or other surfaces within your home.

Ionizers can also break down chemicals and pollutants into smaller particles which makes them more easily inhaled by human lungs.

How Do Ionizer Air Purifier Work?

Most air purifiers work in a simple way. Ionizers use electricity to separate the ions already present in the air.

It does so by using electrodes that produce either positive or negative ionization depending on their polarity.

These charged particles are then drawn towards opposite charges via an induced current, giving rise to the ‘air cleaning’ effect of ionizer air purifier devices.

Ionizers are also known as ozone generators, and this is because they can produce oxygen ions which have powerful oxidizing properties. These O+ ions are used to destroy bacteria, smoke particles, or other forms of allergens in the air.

Ionizer air purifiers come with either automatic timers or remote controls so that users don’t have to worry about turning them on at night when going out for vacations.

Ionizers are known as natural air purifiers because they can be used to neutralize foul odors.

They don’t create the same ozone produced from standard ion generators, which may have adverse health effects.

    Do Ionizer Air Purifier Work?

Yes, ionizer air purifiers work very well. Ionizers have been used for many years in a wide variety of industries as air purification devices.

They are still being sold today because they produce clean air free from allergens such as bacteria2 or smoke particles.

Ionization also works by neutralizing foul odors, which makes an ionizer air purifiers ideal for those who want an environmentally friendly way to keep their homes smelling fresh and clean at all times.

Since it does not use harmful chemicals like other cleaning products, you can rest assured that ionizer air purifiers are safe for the entire family to use, even the children.

Ionizers are also quick and easy to use, which means you can turn them on before going out for errands during your busy day or while leaving the country for a few days, without having to worry about coming home to dirty living conditions.

    Types of Ionizer Air Purifier

There are several different ionizer air purifier devices that you can purchase from retail stores or online. Ionizers come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, but they all work on the same principle described above.

Stand Alone Ionizer Air Purifiers: These models have an attached ozone plate used to kill bacteria without using chemicals like bleach or other harsh cleaning products.

They don’t require any filters either because they rely on electrodes within their design to produce ions into the environment around them.

Mini Ionizer Air Purifiers: This type has been explicitly designed for one room at a time so that users can get localized clean air production wherever it may be needed most – especially during allergy season.

Ionizer Air Purifiers with a HEPA Filter: These models have an added filter to help capture smaller particles that may be in the air, although they can still cause health issues for people who have asthma or other serious respiratory diseases3.

Ionizers are not recommended for those who want their entire home cleaned because of this reason.

What Are the Benefits of Ionizer Air Purifiers?

There are many benefits associated with ionizer air purifiers, this include:

    • Ionizer air purifiers can be used to clean the air of harmful bacteria and smoke particles.
    • Ionizers are eco-friendly devices that don’t produce ozone4 which is a common pollutant in my atmosphere today.
    • Ionizers come with automatic timers or remote controls, so you don’t have to worry about turning them on at night when going out.
    • Ionizers work by neutralizing foul odors, which makes ionizer air purifiers an ideal choice for those who want to keep their homes smelling fresh and clean at all times.
    • Ionizers can be used as air purification devices for many different types of industries.

These are just some of the many benefits ionizer air purifiers have to offer.

If you want clean air and a way for your house to smell great, Ionizers are worth considering, as they can help keep harmful bacteria or smoke particles away from home all year round.

Should You Use an Ionizer Air Purifier?

Ionizer air purifiers are beneficial for those who want to breathe clean and fresh air.

Ionizers help eliminate bacteria, smoke particles, allergens5, and other forms of impurities from the air, which is excellent if you have family members with asthma or allergies living in your household.

Ionization also works as a natural deodorant since it can destroy foul odors without using harmful chemicals that may cause more harm than good when inhaled by humans.

For homes where there are smokers around, an ionizer would be perfect because they neutralize cigarette smells so much better than any form of cleaning product out there on the market today, making them an essential air purification device for those who want to stay healthy.

Ionizers are also great for eliminating foul odors caused by cooking or pets, making ionizer air purifiers a perfect choice for homes where there is someone with asthma around all the time.

  • Can Air Purifiers Work for Pet Owners?

Can Air Purifiers Work for Pet Owners?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

If you’ve ever had a pet in your home, you know it can affect the air quality.

Pets produce dander and hair, which can accumulate on carpets and furniture, leaving behind allergens.

Therefore, it’s essential to invest in an air purifier for pet owners in your home to help improve the indoor air quality for both you and your pets.

    But where to start?

We’ll discuss how an air purifier works, the different filters available, and some questions people often ask when purchasing a new unit.

    How Do Pet Allergies Work?

An allergic reaction occurs when the immune system1 overreacts to a perceived threat. This is usually in response to an airborne allergen such as pollen, dust, mold spores, and pet dander.

The reaction can affect both humans and animals that come into contact with these allergens, which include:

    Pet Allergies

    Pet Dander

Pet dander is a common cause of animal-related sensitivities. It’s mainly composed of the dead skin that falls off of pets. It can be found in your pet’s saliva, urine, and body fur.

The dander floats into the air when you brush or play with your furry friend, which will cause allergic reactions if inhaled by humans who are sensitive to it.

    Pet Hair

Pet hair is another common cause of pet allergies. Hair can be easily spread throughout your home when you brush or play with your furry friend, which will then become airborne and settle on clothing, furniture, and carpets.

    Pet Hair

    Dust Bunnies

Dust bunnies2 are another common source of pet allergies.

Dust can accumulate on your carpets and furniture if not cleaned regularly, making it a perfect environment for dust mites to thrive in, which in turn causes more allergy problems.

    Pet Saliva & Accidents

Pet saliva is also a common source of pet allergies. When your furry friend licks their paws, they spread the saliva around, which becomes airborne and settles on clothing, furniture, carpets, etc.

It can cause an allergic reaction if not cleaned regularly.

    Cat Allergies vs. Dog Allergies

The most common pet allergies are cat and dog allergies. Some people may be allergic to both, while others only react when around one or the other.

Cat Allergies: Cat dander is known for causing more problems than its furry counterparts, but you can still find high levels of skin cells in your pet’s saliva. This will cause an allergic reaction if not cleaned regularly.

Cat urine has also been found to cause health issues such as asthma attacks and migraines. It contains higher amounts of ammonia which irritate your respiratory system even more than dog hair (which we’ll get into shortly).

Dog Allergies: Dogs produce fewer allergens than cats do, and they groom themselves much better by their paws instead of using their tongue, which spreads the dander around.

They also produce a lot less saliva than cats, but their fur does cause problems because it contains high levels of skin cells that end up on your clothing and furniture after you’ve played with them or brushed them.

    Cats And Dogs

Can an Air Purifier Work on Pet Dander?

Various air purifiers can help reduce the amount of dander and hair in your home.

It has been found that an air purifier with a filtration system containing active carbon is best at lowering pet allergies because it traps irritants such as dust, pollen, mold spores, dander, and other contaminants to improve indoor air quality.

    Work on Pet Dander

    HEPA Filter

The HEPA filter3 is the most common type of air purifier. It traps 99% of particles as small as 0.03 microns such as dust, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores to improve indoor air quality by trapping allergens in your home that can cause respiratory problems.

    Ionizers

Ionizers contain electrical charges that attach to contaminants in the air and can cause them to stick together.

This causes larger particles such as pet dander, hair, and dust mites which are easier to inhale instead of smaller allergens like pollen or mould spores.

    Ionizers

    Carbon Air Filters

Carbon air filters are also famous for removing pet dander, hair, and other particles in the air.

They work by trapping contaminants using activated carbon, a porous form of carbon that contains chemical properties to trap gases, odors, chemicals, and irritants.

    PECO

PECO4 or photoelectrochemical oxidation is the newest air purification technology that uses ultraviolet light to oxidize contaminants giving them an electrical charge which causes them to stick together.

This makes larger particles such as pet dander, hair, and other allergens easier for you to inhale instead of smaller ones like pollen or mould spores.

    Electrostatic Precipitators

Electrostatic precipitators work by using both positive and negative ions within a high voltage field so they can trap pollutants in your home more efficiently than ionizers do because it has better contact time with contaminants.

The best part about this type of filter is that it doesn’t produce ozone at all, unlike other types of filters, including HEPA filters which are great for reducing allergens but do produce trace amounts of ozone.

What Type of Air Purifier Is Best for Reducing Pet Dander?

There are several different air purifiers that you can choose from to reduce the amount of pet dander in your home.

It would help if you were looking for an air purifier with a HEPA filter and one that contains active carbon because it’s been found they’re most effective at reducing allergens such as dust, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander.

This is best used by people who suffer from asthma or allergies caused by these irritants.

It would help if you also looked for an air purifier with a carbon filter because they trap gases, odors, chemicals, and other irritants.

An ionizer can help remove larger particles such as pet dander from home.

Still, you should get one that doesn’t contain ozone, or it could cause respiratory problems instead of improving them, which is why I recommend staying away from these types of filters.

    Best for Reducing Pet Dander

Other Ways to Reduce Pet-Related Allergens

There are many other ways to reduce pet-related allergens in your home without using an air purifier. They include:

    Regular Bathing of Pets

Bathing your pets regularly will help reduce dander and hair by getting rid of particles stuck to their fur.

Brushing or combing your pet daily can also remove some allergens from their coat before they spread them around your house so that you won’t have as many problems with allergies caused by these irritants.

    Reduce Pet-Related Allergens

Limit Area of Activity for Pets

Limit the area of activity for your pets to one or two rooms in your home instead of letting them roam free throughout all regions.

This will allow you to clean these pet-related allergens more frequently, which keeps air quality high and reduces any problems from breathing in these irritants.

    Pet-Proof Your Home

It would help if you also considered pet-proofing your home to remove any allergens that can get stuck on furniture and other items inside your house, such as clothes, pillows, or anything else you don’t want to be covered with dander.

You should avoid keeping pets where people sit because it will cause problems for anyone who suffers from allergies caused by pet dander, including respiratory issues like asthma.

This is why I recommend getting an air purifier if possible even though there are many other ways to reduce the amount of pet dander in a home without one.

    Regular Cleaning

Regular cleaning of your home will help reduce pet-related allergens by getting rid of hair, dander, and other irritants that can cause problems for people with allergies.

You should try to clean at least once a week in high traffic areas because it reduces the amount of these types of irritants that end up on carpets or furniture.

This is what you’ll want to avoid when choosing an air purifier if possible even though there are many other ways to keep them out without having one.

    Regular Cleaning

    HVAC Maintenance

Regular HVAC5 maintenance will help reduce the amount of dander from allergens such as dust, pollen, and mold spores by keeping your home’s ventilation system clean.

This is very important if you have pets because it means that all air that comes into your house flows through a more hygienic filter, reducing any problems caused by breathing in these types of irritants.

    Common Questions

    [CUSTOM_FAQ]

    In Conclusion

There are many benefits for pet owners to owning an air purifier, but the most important is that they help keep your home cleaner.

Airborne particles can be harmful or irritating to you and your pets.

Using other methods like vacuuming will also remove some contaminants from carpets and floors, however, it’s not enough.

Air purifiers should always go in high-traffic areas where there may be a lot of dirt on hard surfaces throughout the day. This includes living rooms, kitchens, or any room with carpeting.

Do You Know What the Pros & Cons of an Air Purifier Are?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

Are you wondering about the pros and cons of air purifiers?

Air purifiers have become a popular choice for people who suffer from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory illnesses.

They are also becoming more and more popular among healthy individuals to keep the air in their homes free of pollutants.

    But where to start?

We’ll explore the pros and cons of getting an air purifier so you can make an informed decision about whether they’re right for you.

    How Do Air Purifiers Work?

Air purifiers work by removing pollutants¹ from the air. Depending on what type of purifier you get, it might use a filter to remove particles like dust and pet dander or chemicals like formaldehyde present in many household products.

They also work by releasing negative ions² into the air; these bind with positively charged molecules (i.e., pollutants) before they can do any damage to your health.

As an alternative, some purifiers use ozone to clean the air³.

This is effective because it will oxidize pollutants and neutralize them to be removed by your home’s HVAC system or filtered out of the room altogether.

There are many benefits to using an air purifier. Here are some of the most important.

    • They reduce respiratory disease by removing allergens from the air before they can cause an allergic reaction, an asthma flare-up, or other breathing problems. This is especially true for those who suffer from allergies and live with pets or smokers.
    • Due to their ionizing properties, negative ions found in many kinds of air purifiers also help combat depression and improve mood.
    • Dust particles and other pollutants can cause problems such as mold growth in your home. Air purifiers can help prevent this by removing these particles from the air before they have a chance to settle on surfaces and create potential health hazards.
    • If you’re going through renovations or remodeling your home, using an air purifier can help remove dust and debris from the air so you won’t suffer an allergic reaction or respiratory problems.
    • Ozone generators can also help sanitize your home by removing pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, mold spores, and other micro-organisms that can cause illness.
    Benefits of Air Purifiers

What Are the Downsides of Air Purifiers?

There are also some drawbacks to using an air purifier. Here are some of the most common ones you should know about before making your purchase.

    • Air purifiers can be expensive. It’s not just the cost of buying one, you will also have to pay an ongoing operating and replacement fee for filters or other parts that need replacing as time goes on.
    • Some purifiers can be harmful to your health because of the chemicals they use. This is especially true for ozone generators and ionizing air cleaners that release negative ions into the room; these may strip oxygen from water molecules in your body tissue, which will increase oxidative stress on cells and cause damage over time.
    • They can be noisy, and they’ll need to run for several hours a day to clean your home’s air supply effectively. If you live with someone sensitive to noise, such as an infant or elderly family member, this could be a problem. Think about where the purifier will sit before making your purchase; if it doesn’t fit into that space due to its size or sound levels, keep looking until you find something that works better.
    • Using ionizing purifiers may cause problems with electronic devices like computers and TVs by creating static electricity on their surfaces, damaging internal components over time (especially true of plasma TVs). It might also affect other small appliances like cordless phones and cell phone chargers.
    • Negative ion generators can also be dangerous to animals and people who have pacemakers or other internal medical devices. These negative ions may cause problems with people with asthma, so you should ask your doctor before using one if this applies to you.
    Downsides of Air Purifiers

What Things Should You Consider Before Buying an Air Purifier?

There are a few things you’ll need to consider before buying an air purifier. Here’s what they are and why each is important:

    • Think about the size and configuration of your home. Will you need a large purifier that can handle an entire floor or just one small enough to rest on a nightstand?
    • If allergies are your biggest concern, will it be more effective for you to use an ionizing air cleaner with negative ions instead of HEPA filters which reduce allergens by trapping and removing them from the air (though they don’t emit negative ions)?
    • If you live near a primary source of pollution, such as a highway or factory, a HEPA purifier with carbon filtration may be your best choice.
    • How much can you spend on one? Can you afford it outright without having to finance it over time? Or will you need to shop around for lower prices before buying?
    • Is there a warranty included and, if so, how long does it last, and what are its limitations (for instance, some companies won’t cover damage caused by certain chemicals used in ionizing cleaners)?
    Things Should You Consider

Other Ways to Improve Air Quality

Although using an air purifier can help you breathe more accessible, it isn’t always the most practical solution. Sometimes other ways are more feasible and maybe just as adequate for your needs.

    Here are some suggestions:

    • Vacuuming with a HEPA filter will remove dust from carpets that could trigger allergies or asthma attacks in sufferers if left unattended over time.
    • Investing in an electronic air cleaner plugs into a wall outlet is another option; they don’t need replacement filters but still effectively clean household air without chemicals (some models include ionizers).
    • If you don’t want to spend money on either of these options, simply opening windows when weather permits might be enough to reduce allergens and pollutants in your home, especially if you live on a somewhat busy street or next to an industrial area.
    • Cleaning carpets and upholstery with steam and plain water can effectively minimise allergens and other contaminants.
    • Scrubbing floors every week will pick up the dirt particles that circulate through your house when it’s cleaned by hand (it may be better than using a vacuum since some vacuums don’t have HEPA filters).

    In Conclusion

Air purifiers will not completely remove allergens or bacteria, but they can help reduce the number of irritants in your home.

They are a good option for people who want to minimize their exposure to dust and pet dander if they cannot afford an expensive HEPA filter system.

Suppose you’re looking for something more potent than just filtering out particulates.

In that case, an air purifier may be worth it because this type of unit has some benefits over other types of devices like humidifiers, which only add humidity into the air, leading many people with allergies to avoid them altogether.

It is important to weigh up the pros and cons of air purifiers before going out to buy one.

  • Is Having An Air Purifier A Necessity?

Is Having An Air Purifier A Necessity?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

Why exactly are air purifiers a necessity?

You may not realize it, but there is an invisible world all around you. This includes the air that I breathe and the microscopic particles floating in it.

Unfortunately, some of these particles pose a health risk to my bodies. One way to protect your family from these harmful contaminants is by using an air purifier in your home.

    But where to start?

We’ll show you why an air purifier should be considered a necessity for every home.

Important Reasons to Have an Air Purifier

There are several important reasons why an easy-to-use air purifier is a necessity in your home. Here are some reasons why you should have one:

    • They can protect you from asthma triggers¹.
    • They help control allergies and congestion by filtering out anything floating in the air around you, such as dust mites, pollen spores, mold spores, and other allergens.
    • They work well to eliminate odors that come from pets or smoking inside your home or car.
    • They can help keep the air in your home clean and smelling fresh by getting rid of any unwanted smells.
    • They work well to reduce other health risks that come from breathing contaminated air, such as flu viruses, dust mites, or carbon monoxide gas leaks.

If you have a family member with asthma or allergies, this is especially important for them.

Air purifiers are definitely something to consider having in your home if someone suffers from either of these conditions because they could make a big difference when it comes to their overall quality of life.

The best place to use an air purifier would be in small areas where there is not much room like bedrooms and offices, since smaller spaces often get dirtier faster than larger ones.

In fact, if someone is not feeling well or they are experiencing symptoms of asthma, allergies, and congestion, it may be a good idea to use an air purifier in their bedroom at night while they sleep.

    Important Reasons

What Should Be Looked at When Buying a Good Air Purifier?

When you’re looking for an air purifier to buy, there are some important factors that you need to consider. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

    • You should look at the size of a purifier before buying it. Do you need one for your bedroom or living room? Or do you need an air purifier that can be placed throughout your entire home?
    • The type of filters used on a unit is important as well. Look for high-quality HEPA filters² since they are able to capture and eliminate most mold spores, dust mites, pollen spores, pet dander, and other allergens floating around in the air.
    • Some units have ionizers built into them, which is another great way to get rid of odors and any unwanted particles floating through the air too. If possible, you may want to consider buying a unit like this.
    • You also need to think about the noise level of any air purifier you buy because some can be very loud and annoying while others are much quieter. If possible, try finding an air purifier that is as quiet as possible so it will not make too much noise when placed in your home or office where people spend time every day.
    • Check what kind of warranty is included with an air purifier before making a purchase since warranties do vary from model to model. Choose one that offers at least a two-year warranty for peace of mind and long-term protection if anything goes wrong with the unit over time.

There are several important factors that need to be checked carefully whenever you’re considering buying an air purifier.

If you follow these tips, it should help ensure that the unit you buy is a good one and will keep your home or office clean while protecting family members’ health too.

    Buying a Good Air Purifier

Air Purifiers Have Two Broad Categories

There are two broad categories of air purifiers³ to consider when buying one, and they include:

    Passive Filtration

Passive filtration air purifiers work by filtering out contaminants in the air through a chemical process that takes place within a filter.

This type of unit cannot capture anything smaller than .003 microns, which means it does not remove small viruses and bacteria from the air as ionizers can.

However, this kind of purifier works well for smoke particles and other larger-sized pollutants floating around in your home or office.

    Active Filtration

An active filtration system uses an electronic pump to push clean filtered air into the room, while simultaneously drawing dirty contaminated indoor air across an electronically charged HEPA filter.

Once cleaned, this newly refreshed supply of non-contaminated fresh ambient air is then pushed back into the room.

This kind of purifier works to filter out bacteria, allergens, and other contaminants in this way so it can improve your indoor air quality too.

    Two Broad Categories

How Do Various Types of Air Purifiers Work?

There are four basic types of air purifiers to consider when you’re looking for the right one. They include:

    HEPA Filtration Air Purifier:

This type of purifier is able to capture 99.97% of all airborne particles larger than .003 microns that pass through the filter, including dust mites, pet dander, pollen spores, mold, and other allergens too.

    Ionizer Air Purifier:

An ionizer air purifier works by releasing a stream of negatively charged ions into the room to remove allergens and other pollutants in this way.

This makes it another great choice for people who want their homes or offices free from dust mites, pollen spores, mold spores, pet dander, and other contaminants too.

Ionic air purifiers are also very effective when used on odors caused by smoke or even pets, since they work well at removing foul fumes that give your home a dirty odor over time as well.

    Ozone Generator Air Purifier:

This type of unit creates ozone gas, which then attaches itself to particles floating in the indoor environment.

Once the ozone attaches itself to these contaminants, it becomes a powerful oxidizing agent which can destroy odors and pollutants in this way so you breathe easier again.

    Negative Ion Generator Air Purifier:

Using negative ions released into a room by an ionizer air purifier helps remove particles from the air as well as toxins, since they attach themselves to airborne allergens like cigarette smoke or other fumes that may be found around heavy machinery at work, or within your home over time.

  • Can Air Purifiers Assist With Odors in Your Home?

Can Air Purifiers Assist With Odors in Your Home?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

Have you ever wondered if air purifiers can remove odors from your home?

Whether it’s cigarette smoke, cooking, or musty smells that you don’t want hanging around your house, an air purifier can help eliminate the odor and make your home smell better.

    But where to start?

We’ll discuss how air purifiers work to remove odors and what type of filter should be used for different types of odor removal.

    What Makes up Common Odors?

The common odors that I are talking about in this article aren’t necessarily bad smells.

They can be a range of different odors, from the smell of cigarette smoke, to musty basement odors, or even food cooking smells that get trapped into your home’s upholstery and fabric.

All these types of common odors have one thing in common:

They all contain particles that need to be filtered out by an air purifier and humidity1 if you want to remove them from your home environment completely.

    However,

If you’re looking to remove a bad smell from your home, it’s important to remember that an air purifier cannot eliminate all of the smells.

This means that some odors may still be left behind even after using an air purifier.

Sometimes what is needed, is more than just eliminating particles especially when dealing with strong urine or smoke odors, for example.

    Common Odors

What Are These Bad Smells, Exactly?

The bad smells that are not removed by an air purifier, can be anything from the smell of cigarette smoke to food cooking odors, urine, or even pet odor.

These bad smells are more difficult for an average air purifier because you need a different type of filter technology to remove them, and sometimes it’s simply impossible due to their strength.

For example, if someone smokes cigarettes inside your home daily, there will likely still be some scent left behind after using an air purifier.

While this may seem like common sense since I know what smoking does to carpeting, upholstery, and fabric (it makes them smelly), many people don’t realize that it can happen with certain types of wood.

Even if you have been smoking cigarettes for many years and your furniture or walls appear to be fine there may still be a smell left behind.

This can only really be removed by painting over it with an odorless primer/sealer.

These strong odors are often called “invisible” smells because they happen slowly over time, but the damage is done when someone comes in contact with them (i.e., inhaling second-hand cigarette smoke).

What this means is that unless you completely remove thiese particles2 from your home’s air, some scent will more than likely remain, no matter what product you use as part of your weekly spring cleaning routine.

    Bad Smells

Where Do Unpleasant Odors Come From?

    Pet Odor

The most common source of bad odors in a home is from pets.

There are no exceptions to this rule, whether you have an indoor or outdoor cat, dog, rabbit, or a guinea pig.

Pet odor can be so difficult to get rid of all the time because some animals cannot be trained not to go where they shouldn’t (i.e., your rugs), and their urine contains particles that make up strong smells when combined with humidity.

The Awful Mustiness of Mold and Mildew

Mold and mildew are the next most common source of bad odors in a home.

This can happen for many reasons, some as simple as not turning on your bathroom fan after taking a shower, or using the kitchen sink garbage disposal without running water to rinse it beforehand.

    Smoke

Cigarette, cigar, and marijuana smoke are all equally strong when it comes to odors.

While many people think that smoking inside their home is not a problem (since they don’t smell it).

The particles from second-hand smoke still get released into your carpeting, furniture, walls everywhere.

    Cooking Odors

Another source of bad smells in your home is from cooking odors.

The reason why this happens more often than not, isn’t that the food you’re cooking contains strong particles, but rather that it’s usually combined with humidity (especially if you don’t have air conditioning).

By the time dinner rolls around, these two things together make for a smellier meal than when it was first cooked.

General Odors in the Home or Office

Finally, there are general odors that several things can cause.

These may include strong smells from cleaning products you use to clean your carpets or wet-wipe down surfaces.

Especially if you live in an apartment and don’t have access to windows for fresh air circulation (i.e., try opening up all doors leading outside).

    Unpleasant Odors

Why Odors Are So Difficult to Filter From the Air

To understand why odors are so difficult for an air purifier to remove, you need to know what it’s like inside of one.

The term “purifier” is a bit deceiving because while they do help improve the quality of your home or office’s air (i.e., reduce pollutants4), many don’t take out smells like cigarette smoke, pet odor, etc.

The reason why this is the case has to do with how purifiers work.

They have a set number of “stages” that they go through, each one designed to remove certain particles from your home’s air (i.e., dust mites or pollen).

While many also come with an activated carbon pre-filter stage, it isn’t meant for smells because odors are gases in their most basic form.

This means that there will be nothing left after going through a filter other than clean air on its way into your lungs.

The only type of technology capable of removing bad odors would probably require you to install something like ozone generators throughout your home.

However these things can make some people sick if they’re not kept at safe levels.

    Difficult to Filter

Air Purifiers’ Effectiveness in Controlling Odors

    HEPA Filters

The most common type of filter with air purifiers is a HEPA filter5, but not all are the same.

Many companies claim to have “true” HEPA filters (i.e., 99% effective at removing particles in 0.03-micron size), while others only go as far as saying they’re capable of trapping larger particles like dust or pollen and preventing them from settling on your furniture, etc.

    Carbon Air Filters

Carbon air filters found in many cleaners aren’t meant to remove odors but rather the particles associated with them (i.e., smoke).

These types of filters work by binding and trapping particles onto their surface until they’re either saturated, or have started growing into mould themselves. At this point, you would need to replace them altogether.

    UV Filters

While there is a type of filter called an ultraviolet light filter designed specifically for removing bad smells from your home’s air.

These things can be extremely dangerous if used incorrectly because once activated, they emit levels of UV radiation6 capable of causing skin damage within minutes on high settings.

    Molekule (PECO) Technology

While Molekule air purifiers are not yet widely available, this technology is considered the only one capable of removing odors from your home’s air.

The reason why it works has to do with its Photocatalytic Oxidation (PECO) filter.

This literally “breaks” down all particles by using light and water vapor when combined with humidity in the air, a chemical reaction takes place which degrades everything you would want to be removed into smaller bits.

Before going through an activated carbon post filter for extra scent control.

    Air Purifiers' Effectiveness

Odors Are Airborne Chemicals Too Small for Most Air Purifiers

The truth is that most air purifiers are not designed to remove odors from your home’s air, but rather trap them in their filters.

Which means it will only be a matter of time before they saturate and cause smells to return.

This also explains why you have the option to buy extra replacement filter packs for some models, because once they’re saturated with particles (i.e. dust or pet hair), all that remains are the gases associated with bad odors.

These eventually escape back into your living space until replaced again by new ones.

Though some air purifiers claim to use activated carbon filters designed for removing odor.

The truth is that these types of filters are only capable of trapping a few of them at best. This means they can never fully remove bad smells from your home.

Most air purifier companies state not to use their products in rooms where you smoke or cook.

Doing so will harm more than good due to the additional pollutants released into the room, versus what gets removed by even high-end models with multiple stages of true HEPA technology.

    Airborne Chemicals

Air Purifiers May Combat Some Odors but Cannot Act Alone

While it’s true that air purifiers can help reduce the number of bad odors in your home, there is a limit as to how much these devices can do on their own without having to resort to using something like ozone generators4 .

These should installed inside homes because they’re extremely dangerous for humans and animals alike.

This means you may need other products (i.e., vacuum cleaners or steam mops) capable of removing the particles associated with most smells before passing them through an air filter, where gases are trapped until saturation levels return down again.

This is why, when buying new appliances such as refrigerators or washing machines, many manufacturers recommend waiting at least 30 days before turning them off.

Unless you have installed carbon filters onto your air purifier to help neutralize bad smells.

When it comes down to it, while air purifiers can be effective for reducing the number of odors coming from your home’s air.

They cannot remove anything alone without having other products capable of removing particles (i.e., dust and pet hair) before passing them through an activated carbon filter.

This filter is designed specifically for trapping gases until saturation levels return down again.

This means you may also need a vacuum cleaner or steam mop to completely clean up any messes that have been made on floors or carpets, too, so as not to leave behind residual smells, which will only make matters worse in the long run.

  • How Do HVAC Systems & Air Purifiers Work Together?

How Do HVAC Systems & Air Purifiers Work Together?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

HVAC systems and air purifiers work together to create a healthy living environment for you.

Your HVAC system helps manage the temperature in your home or office, while an air purifier removes contaminants from the air that could affect your health.

We’ll discuss how they work together and what each can do on its own to help improve indoor air quality.

    But where to start?

    What Is HVAC System?

HVAC1 is the acronym for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

This system can be found in residential homes as well as commercial buildings like office spaces or factories.

The HVAC system circulates conditioned air through your home or building to keep it within a specific temperature range that you set with thermostats in each room.

HVAC systems also contain filtration components, which remove contaminants like dust and pollen from the air before they enter your living space.

This can help improve indoor air quality by preventing allergens from spreading around inside your house.

In addition, an oversized HVAC system will help circulate more fresh outside air into your home to replace stale, polluted indoor air with cleaner outdoor air for better overall airflow efficiency when combined with its filtration capabilities.

    How Do HVAC Systems Work?

HVAC systems have three main components: a condensing unit, an evaporator coil, and a blower.

The refrigerant2 in the HVAC system is used to transfer heat from one area to another.

In the summer months, this helps cool your home or office by transferring warm air outside through the evaporation process of the cooling coils.

The refrigerant is used to heat your home or office by moving heat from outside into indoor areas in the winter months.

HVAC systems also have a filter that catches airborne particles like dust and pet dander before they enter your breathing space.

This helps keep you healthy because many of these pollutants are allergens that can trigger asthma symptoms in some people and aggravate common allergy conditions such as runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, coughing, etc.

How Do HVAC Systems Affect Indoor Air Quality?

HVAC systems can improve indoor air quality by filtering out airborne dust particles in your home.

Some models have features like electrostatic filters that attract pollutants to their surface for easy removal.

At the same time, other units contain high-quality HEPA or carbon monoxide3 filter components designed to remove common contaminants from the air when they are circulated through your living space.

Individual room HVAC units can use charcoal filtration technology to trap odors and reduce gaseous chemicals caused by cooking in kitchens, smoking in family rooms, cleaning products used indoors, etc.

This helps keep you healthy because many of these pollutants are highly toxic gases that pose serious health risks if inhaled over time.

How Do Air Purifiers Work With HVAC Systems?

When combined with an HVAC unit, air purifiers can help remove contaminants from your breathing space by trapping pollutants at the source of where they are produced.

This is especially helpful when allergens like pollen or pet dander enter indoor areas through ventilation systems in homes and offices to make them airborne inside living spaces.

Air purifier technology uses activated carbon filters for this process that removes odors caused by pets.

While also containing HEPA-type4 components that trap common pollutants before they can be circulated into occupied rooms via heating or cooling ductwork.

Electrostatic filter options work well too, because these technologies attract particles using static fields, so they don’t become re-suspended back into the air you breathe after passing over a room’s interior surfaces, including furniture, flooring, etc.

An air purifier can also be combined with an HVAC system to help condition indoor air when the unit is not in use, by drawing fresh outdoor air into your home or office space through open windows and doors.

Simultaneously, filtered interior air is expelled back outside for circulation after it has passed over an activated carbon filter.

This helps keep contaminants from building up indoors year-round so you can enjoy cleaner breathing conditions during all seasons of the year.

How Can You Combine an Air Purifier With Your HVAC System?

The best way to combine an air purifier with your HVAC system is by installing a dedicated unit in each room where occupants spend time.

This will help remove indoor contaminants faster and more efficiently.

    For example.

You could install one of these units in the living space while also placing another between rooms that connect via open doors or windows.

In this way fresh outdoor air can circulate through them when closed off if it’s cold outside for heating purposes.

You can also install central air purifiers in the HVAC system’s main unit.

These are designed to remove contaminants before they enter your living space instead of within individual rooms.

These can be especially helpful when you want purified air circulated throughout an entire building or complex.

    For example.

Like a single-family home on one property, that connects directly to others via open doors and windows between them.

This will also help improve air quality in homes that share HVAC systems like multi-unit apartment buildings, for example.

Can Indoor Air Quality Issues Be Fixed With Both Systems Installed?

Yes, because these systems work well together to remove contaminants that cause poor air quality.

Installing both types of units in a home or office can help reduce indoor pollutants by up to 99%.

Depending on their size and the contaminants you’re trying to remove from your living space for better health conditions.

    For example.

An HVAC system combined with one of these technologies is ideal.

It will provide conditioned airflow while simultaneously removing common allergens, like pet dander and dust particles, that circulate through vents when they’re switched on during heating or cooling processes.

An activated carbon filter technology used within individual room units, also works well if you want clean breathing conditions throughout a single space, instead of an entire building’s interior.

This type of device provides superior performance, trapping gaseous chemicals often found inside homes where people live and work.

What Are Some Benefits of Installing Both Technologies?

There are several health benefits to installing both types of technologies in your home or office, and they include:

    • Improved indoor air quality for cleaner breathing conditions.
    • Reduced energy costs because HVAC systems don’t have to work as hard when filters aren’t clogged with contaminants, so you will spend less on heating and cooling bills every month.
    • Fewer respiratory illnesses5 due to reduced exposure to airborne pollutants which can trigger asthma attacks, allergies, etc.
    • Enhanced comfort levels from improved airflow throughout living spaces, since the two devices work well together during years of combined use.
    • Helps reduce common allergens that cause people to have sore throats, itchy eyes, and other types of reactions, when they’re present in a living space for long periods.

These are just a few of the benefits that come from using this two-in-one combination.

They will not only help improve indoor air quality and reduce energy costs.

They can also be used to enhance comfort levels by keeping HVAC systems running efficiently, so their filters don’t become overloaded with contaminants over time.

It also protects people’s health when these technologies are installed in homes and other types of buildings where people work and live.

What Are the Common Causes of Air Purifiers Affecting Sinus Infection?

    [FEATURE_IMAGE_INSERT]

Now the question is, do air purifiers cause sinus problems?

Air purifiers keep the air in your home or office cleaner by filtering out pollutants and allergens.

Breathing clean, safe air can improve health and make you feel better overall.

However, some people experience side effects when using an air purifier.

    But where to start?

This article will explore why this might be happening and how to avoid these issues during your next purchase. And when you’re done reading this, why not head on over to our reviews to find out more?

How Can an Air Purifier Cause Nasal Discomfort?

For those with a cold or allergies, a trusty air purifier can worsen symptoms by adding irritants to the environment.

Pollutants and allergens are filtered out of the air, which means your nose will be less irritated from the substances you’re sensitive to.

But this also removes some of your natural defenses against things like pollen or smoke, which leads to more congestion in your nose and sinuses.

For example, when someone suffers from seasonal allergies, their nasal passages swell due to allergen1 exposure.

Still, if they use an air filter, their body doesn’t work as hard trying to clear it on its own because pollutants are removed, so nothing is pushing up against the swollen tissue, making them feel congested for longer periods than normal.

There are other reasons, such as a possible side effect of the filters, which produces ozone that can cause some people to feel lightheaded or have headaches.

But there’s also the possibility that an air filter could be making your nose hurt by sucking up too much moisture from the environment, drying out mucous membranes, and irritating them more.

    High Humidity Levels

To avoid discomfort while using your air purifier, make sure you’re running it in an area with high humidity levels.

Your nose will be less irritated if there is a higher level of moisture in the environment, which means that allergies and cold symptoms can improve and nasal congestion from other causes.

    How to Prevent Discomfort

Keep it close to open windows or use an automatic misting system to make sure you’re running your air purifier in a humid environment.

If there are areas of the home where humidity is low, this can be remedied by using room-spray mists, which help add moisture back into the atmosphere and add that “fresh” smell I all know and love.

You could also try placing bowls of water around these rooms for even more added benefits, such as improved moods and stress relief.

Lack of Moisture in the Air

In some cases, the air purifier might be making your nose hurt because it is not producing enough moisture.

To filter out pollutants and allergens from the air, it can also suck up too much humidity, which leaves a dry environment that doesn’t provide any relief for your irritated nose and sinuses.

There are a few things you can do to keep this from happening:

    • Try adding humidity back into the air by using room spray mists or bowls of water around your home;
    • Invest in an ozone2 filter which will function more as a humidifier than it does as an air purifier, providing relief for those suffering from asthma and allergies;
    • Consider buying a dehumidifier if there is too much moisture in the environment which can lead to mold and mildew and spread allergies to those in the home.
    • Look for an air purifier with a humidistat that will automatically adjust humidity levels based on what is needed;
    • Invest in a filterless option with no ozone or charcoal filters, so it doesn’t dry out your nose and sinuses more than they already are.

Think air purifiers always dry out the air? Uncover the facts about this and other air purifier misconceptions.

    Air Purifier Placement

When placing your air purifier in the home, make sure it is not too close to a bedroom, as this can lead to lightheadedness during sleep.

Also, be cautious of putting it near kitchen appliances or any other source of heat, which can cause the filters to overheat and decrease the air purifier’s efficiency.

Consider travel-friendly options if you’re using your purifier on the go.

    Room Size and Airflow

It is also important to make sure you have a large enough room for your air purifier, one that will provide adequate airflow so it can cleanse the whole space, not just specific areas or corners of the area.

Having too much furniture around an air filter can restrict its capability to do its job as well, which means you’ll be using more energy running it than necessary.

If there are any windows in the home where pets like to sleep or spend their time, then avoid placing anything on them, such as curtains.

This could suffocate dust mites inside those window treatments, causing nose irritation when released back into the environment by opening up those draperies.

    Ozone

Ozone gas is used in air purifiers to kill germs, bacteria, and other airborne pollutants, but this gas can be irritating for the lungs.

As a result of its high oxidizing properties, it should not be inhaled at all times.

This is why an ozone filter needs to be attached to your home’s HVAC system so any bad smells or particles that are coming from outside won’t affect the healthiness of those inside your household.3

When using an ionizer on your air purifier, you want to make sure it has contact with water before use because dry ions will just spread into the atmosphere without serving as much purpose.

If you are using it in high humidity environments, make sure the ionizer4 is not directly under direct sunlight because this can cause its effectiveness to decrease rapidly.

There are many other reasons your air purifier might be making your nose hurt, but these should help provide some relief and insight on how best to remedy any discomfort from running one of these devices.

What Can You Do to Prevent This From Happening?

To prevent this problem from occurring, be sure to replace your filters as they wear out.

If you plan on using your air purifier for a long period, as the winter months when allergies are at their peak or if you have asthma that needs ongoing treatment during this season, make an investment in a HEPA filter and change it every six months.

Lessen Your Exposure: If you’re not going to use the device for a while and find yourself with nasal congestion due to pollen levels being high outside or other allergens inside, keep windows closed as much as possible.

That will lessen how often particles enter into the house where I spend most of my time breathing them in unintentionally.

Stop Using Air Purifiers When Cooking: The kitchen is the worst place to have an air purifier running because cooking produces smoke and particles that get pulled into the filter.

If you’re using your device in a kitchen, keep it turned off whenever food is being cooked or smoked, so you don’t end up with a buildup of residue on your filters.

Keep Your Filters Clean: An easy way to do this is by wiping them down every few weeks with any cloth, including paper towels, microfiber5 materials like those made for cleaning eyeglasses or clothes, old T-shirts, etc.

Remember not to use something abrasive such as steel wool pads or sponges, which are too harsh for delicate surfaces inside these devices.

    In Conclusion

Air purifiers remove harmful airborne particles from everyday air.

However, not all people react the same way when they use an air purifier, and some may experience a sore nose or throat due to inhaling these particles.

These symptoms can be like allergies, but you must see your doctor if you think this is the case before using an air purifier regularly to avoid any long-term complications.

If none of the above sounds like what’s happening with you, I recommend taking off your filter for a while before deciding whether it’s your air purifier causing sinus problems.
